Didn't you just do that?? It worked... I'm jealous... ... still cold and rainy here...
So - we've decided to make our December trip a surprise for the girls... we've kept quiet about it this whole time, and Emma asked a few days ago when we were going to visit WDW again... so I just played dumb and said I didn't know. Julia said she thought we'd told them last year we'd go during the winter sometime this year, so we just left it at that, as a "maybe". Now, I'm so excited to try to pull this off!
I've decided to do a "treasure hunt" for them the week before we go, and I wrote out all the clues today... 13 rhyming ones that will take them all over the house, the last one ending in our "Magic Kingdom" board game and letting them know we're going. (But not when... so that when they ask, we can say "Next week!!" and let the joyous crazy celebration start!! I think they will be SO excited, and I can't wait!! )
So... now the big task will be keeping it quiet... we've been really careful so far, so I think it'll be okay... just as we get ready to do ADR's, we'll have to make sure little ears are asleep, and that Julia doesn't show up over my shoulder at the wrong time on here!
Sigh... is it crazy that reading through the clues and knowing how excited they'll be made me teary??

OK............ let's see if we can all come together to firm up our plans for our December JQ Meet !
Have we all agreed to make it a Friday & Saturday thing ??? That is when everyone has said was good for them.
We've talked about a breakfast and a dinner. I don't think we should try to do both on the same day. Agree or disagree ?
Natazu & I will be hosting our JQ Family Mini Golf Tournament and I think it will be at Winterland/Summerland on Saturday. The time is still to be decided.
I would like to suggest we have our main get together at MK. We could all meet in front of the castle in the AM and enjoy the park as a group.
What do you think ???

I'm confused. What is this "AM" you speak of?
What's the status of the fireworks cruise?
Someone will need to secure is a Grand Gathering number if we're going to do it, or any GG events for that matter.
We're going to go ahead and book a room. It's looking like we'll be able to go so long as everything goes well with the delivery and post-delivery cash flow.

Okay, just so we don't appear to not want to be involved in all the festivities by not answering this post, I'll just let you guys all know that for now, we're going to pretty much sit back and watch/listen. It's probably best to let all of you who are going primarily for the "JQ meet" make the decisions as to what works best for you, esp. since some of you are going for shorter stretches and may need certain days/times more than we do.... and we'll just add ourselves in to whatever activities we can. Not that 8 days is short by any means, but having never been there for Christmas, (or for this long, either) there are just so many displays and places we want to go/try that we've never had a chance to do that I feel like our days are so full, and I still don't feel like there's enough time for everything! It's crazy, I know... I'm sure it'll all work out...
What I can tell you is that we'd be up for a breakfast somewhere, and maybe the fireworks cruise... and definitely the mini-golf tournament! As far as everything else, we'll take is as it comes after you guys have the fun of sorting it all out.
I hope that all made sense and that you all know how much we're looking forward to seeing you guys and meeting folks we haven't met yet...

Don't worry, I trust you to be sneaky...
Guess what we have??? Baby cardinals!! We've had cardinals in our yard off and on over the past year, but apparently a mom & dad cardinal decided to build a nest in our honeysuckle vine, and there are babies in there!! The dad's been around the side yard, talking & chirping (loudly!!) a lot over the last few days, now I guess we know why... in fact, he's out there making quite a statement right now!! Dan heard the babies last evening, and saw the mom go into the vine and sure enough, then he noticed the babies chirping and saw their hidden nest! Cool, eh? I hope they stay around!! I'm off tomorrow to go get more food for our feeders...

The only thing that would surprise Dan about this trip is if I didn't buy any sourveneirs!! No, he's in on it all... we'll be celebrating his b'day, though, so maybe I can come up with something when we're at dinner...
Would anybody like to share some with me? I've got a nice Reisling open... (Chateau Ste. Michelle, Cindy, if you're wondering...)

I had a lovely dinner. I had a Caprese Turnover served with a Benton Lane pinot gris(from Oregon), Orecchiette alla Vodka with smoked salmon and asparagus spears served with a 2003 canti classico reserva and chocolate ravioli with mascarpone cheese served with a chocolate grappa.
Jym, the asparagus was cut up in 1 inch pieces and cooked with the pasta. The product consultant said that asparagus was difficult to match wines with because of its complex flavors reacts differently with wines. She went with the canti because it balances out with the smoky flavor of the smoked salmon and the cream in the sauce along with the asparagus. She also had us try the pinot gris with it, because either one will work.
Rhonda, I'll get the recipe up within the next couple of days. It's almost bed time and I have a few things to finish off before I turn in.
Does anyone want to go to work for me on Monday? I have to be at 7:30 because workmen are arriving to work on the plumbing. That's 2 hours before we open, so I'll have to get a bunch of stuff done by myself.
Congratulations Deb on 13K and Pogo on 5K!!!! How did I get ahead of you?

Yes, Friday and Saturday are fine with us.
Yes, I agree we should only do one meal together each day.
We haven't really established any plans yet, so we're pretty flexible at present.

Mary said Friday for breakfast would be best so how about Crystal Palace in MK then we can meet at the castle afterwards like Pogo suggests.
Could I suggest Friday evening we do something Christmassy - either a mass walk through of the Osbourne lights or the Candlelit Processionnal?
Saturday am (maybe about noon for Jym) looks like mini golf. Do we want to do a lunch after that or meet up for dinner later? Or maybe just a pint at the Rose and Crown? When are we going to fit in the tennis tournament?
Are any of the Grand Gathering events cheap enough to make them attractive to all?

Very creative. Ignore the asparagus and pair with the sauce. I would have never thought of that.
It sounds like you had a wonderful dinner. How was the chocolate ravioli?

I was hoping someone would suggest this ! I think it would be great for all our family members ! Then maybe we could do a group thingy at Laugh Floor ! I wonder if they'll have a Christmas style show for that !

I would like to do Osbourne Lights for Friday night.... what does everyone else think ?

I would like to do things as cheap as possible for everyone. Going to the world is expensive enough for families. I'd be up for a Grand Gathering if it's affordable.

By very creative, do you think it was a good choice? I think both of them went very well with meal.
The chocolate ravioli was great!! He fried it and then coated it with icing(powdered) sugar.

Hey guys! Carol -- your meal sounded terrific. I would have had the Pinot Gris as well (I usually do ) ... Was the pasta sweet for the ravioli? That sounded particularly interesting! I'll have to check out the recipe.....
Congrats on the milestones Deb and Cousin!
