    Default WDW Weather Forecast - April 29-May 15, 2008

Each day in April, I'll update this first post with the forecast, both long and short term. As a general rule, up to 7 days is a pretty accurate forecast, beyond that it's educated guessing and largely dependent upon how well the models are doing at that moment. If you have any specific weather questions or comments, even if it's for an area other than WDW, please post and I'll answer throughout the thread. I'll also post weather tidbits every so often. Without further delay, let's get to the forecast:

Weather at WDW - Updated Tuesday pm, April 29, 2008
It's been a gorgeous day with a high of 79 and lots of sun. Tomorrow should be pretty close to the same, though a degree or two warmer. Thursday will warm into the low 80s, then Friday through next Tuesday will be in the 85-87 range for highs with decent dewpoints, so I expect the heat index to get into the mid 90s. In other words, drink lots of water and use LOTS of sunscreen. A front will try to move into FL Sunday night into early Monday morning, but it really looks like it'll fizzle out over northern FL or southern AL, so while an isolated shower isn't out of the question it's pretty unlikely.

Moving into voodooland...May 7-8 will continue clear and warm with highs 86-88. The next front moves in on May 9, but it, also, looks fairly weak. Scattered thunderstorms are possible, but it doesn't look like an all day rain situation. The high for May 9 will back down to the mid 80s. May 10-12 looks like highs in the 85-87 range with isolated afternoon thunderstorms. May 13 sees a more substantial rain threat, but with this being voodooland don't get too excited just yet. The big trough that showed up yesterday has lessened considerably in amplitude today, as I figured it would, so the temps for May 14-15 will only drop into the low 80s rather than the low 70s yesterday's models were showing.

    Travel Impact
At 3:00 pm CDT, Boston is at 130 min while Newark and La Guardia are both are 70 min due to wind and low clouds. There doesn't appear to be much of a delay threat tomorrow, but Thursday a new storm system gears up across the Great Plains, so delays will be possible from Texas to the Canadian boarder, including most of AR, OK, KS, NE, MO, IA, MN, SD, and ND.

My family arrives on the 12th. So you had me a little worried with the models forecasting cool temps around the 14th. Glad to see you are now looking for 70's instead of 60's! Brrrrrrrr!
    Thanks for all you do.

I knew when we we're looking at those kinds of temps on the models that the chances of that actually happening weren't very high. It now definitely looks comfortably warm for the next couple of weeks.

I sure hope it warms up before we go there 3 weeks from today. I would be upset if it was only 70! That's too cold for me, especially to swim! I want mid 80's, yes I'm one of those who like it warm!

I can't say with any certainty as the models only stretch out 16 days and (as I constantly say) anything beyond 7 is pretty worthless beyond just general patterns, but the long range look right now is that the main storm track is shifting more to the north so I think temps in the low to mid 80s will more than likely be the norm by the time you go. I can't guarantee that, but I'd say it's pretty likely.

That's about all voodooland is...hoping and praying. Whether or not the specifics are right, the general pattern looks good.
