Just got upgraded

When you say that Disney Travel called you, do you mean that they called you before you left? Or were you already there? Just a little confused... I know my mom and I got upgraded once, but we didn't find out until we checked in. Not that I cared at all! It's great however they do it, but I was just curious if they really like dial you up and tell you.

Yes, they actually called the day before we are to leave. 12 hrs later and I'm still in unbelief.

I have a question when you get upgraded to Deluxe, do you have to pay the difference in price of the higher end resort?

No, we didn't have to pay the difference. They're giving it to us at the moderate AP rate!

My trip is today, but I'm so excited I can't sleep!

WE were upgraded last year from POP to OKW. I was truly spoiled. I recieved the upgrade by email. I had booked our trip online in April, and I recieved the email the first week of June. I thought it was spam at first, but thought I would open it anyway, and there was Miss Tinkerbell splashing some pixie dust on me. It was really cool to open it, and to read it, then of course I had to call and see if it was legit. It was, and we all had a blast.

We're back and it was a great experience. I told my husband this was an incredible ploy to get me used to the deluxe resorts. As I mentioned earlier, we ALWAYS stay at a value so even the moderate was a luxury for us this time around. I'm not against the deluxe resorts, it's just we live so close and if we stay value we can go more often. Therefor, that's our strategy.

I have to say I'm not used to so much pampering (although it comes at a price-probably the only fault of a deluxe resort). It was INCREDIBLE. I LOVED the monorail line. Can it get any better? Two of our favorite parks accessible by monorail was the icing on the cake this trip.

Wednesday night, we made it back just in time to grab a quick bite at Gasparilla Grill and sit out front to watch Wishes.

There are so many things to love about the deluxe resorts. We'll continue to stay at the values, but the seed has been planted.

It will be hard to go back to mod or value now right? Those deluxes, especially on the monorail line sure do spoil you. Gotta love them! So happy you had the chance to experience the GF! Thanks for sharing!

Fabulous. Because everything was such short notice, we didn't have time to plan much. We hung out at the pool with the slide for a little while. That was a huge hit for the kids, but there are many activities for the kids to do and kids were everywhere. It's definitely a family oriented destination.

Wow, congratulations on the upgrade- and the Grand Floridian, how amazing is that?! On our recent trip we were staying at the values, and one night ended up at the GF to hop onto the monorail to get to the MK. We walked through the lobby, incredible! I always thought it'd be a little stuffy for my family, but we could have gotten used to that for sure! Beautiful resort!!

Very cool! A few years ago, we got offered an upgrade from POP to Key West ( I am still stunned by that one), so I can understand why you're so happy! Surprises are awesome
