Until now, Disney has had nothing to do with American Idol.

Nooooooooooo ... they bought the old Fox Family Channel and re-branded it The Family Channel.
They really have no connection to Fox at all. Actually, if your read the story, they purchased the rights directly from the AI production company and bypassed Fox altogether.

I don't watch American Idol and am not a fan at all. I truly miss Millionaire. Two of my sons were chosen and it was a way for everyone to participate. I just think they could have done better than ride the craze of American Idol...and I am "old", too.

I can't say that I like this idea, but it doesn't bother me. I personally know a few people who will probably like it, so it's nice that there will be something new for them to do. As for me, it's nice because it will occupy the time of a lot of people and create shorter wait times elsewhere in the park. I would, however, prefer something that has more creativity and will last more than just a few years, but I suppose that a temporary filler is better than an empty building. As long as it doesn't cause the delay or cancellation of a bigger and better project, then I don't have a problem with it.

What a waste of space this is going to be.
Who gave the idea this go ahead ??? The same person who thought "Sounds Dangerous" was going to be a classic

If we are getting technical, isn't it called "ABC Family" now? Either way it doesn't matter, Disney has zero Fox/AI connections.

I like American Idol . . . BUT . . . if Simon Cowell isn't there, than it is not American Idol.
The attraction will be successful enough if only for the curious. I just wonder if this is a stop-gap measure while they are thrying to design something else.
Also, by the time this attraction opens, another auditions for the 2009 season will have come and gone.
Beats empty space, I guess.
Never underestimate the power of High School Musical!
