    Default Cranes at Typhoon Lagoon

There are two large construction cranes on site at TL... they are clearly visable over the trees from Buena Vista Drive. I don't recall them using cranes in the past for the winter refurb. Perhaps we are getting some additions around Crush 'N Gusher that have been rumored for some time?

I noticed them this past weekend as well....I don't remember large cranes in the past as well....

But that may not mean anything new....Typhoon and Blizzard operate on a budget system where Disney tracks their profits and basis future expansions upon it....

Obviously there isn't much money...or they don't see much need for adding to them...as typhoon went over 15 and blizzard is now at 12 years without additons.

I think that the waterparks are more of a "throw in" to the resort in disney's eyes....they charge admission and sell food and merchandise....but the cash registers don't go nuts like they do on main street. Waterparks are big draws for Europeans and Florida residents as well....which is important as they draw crowds off the main parks during very busy times....

So they may...in fact....be adding to typhoon....
Or they may be refurbishing Typhoon Tilly...or something else...The Humunga Cowabunga was a bit rough the last time i was down it...I recall...

Interesting. I'd be curious to see a picture. Are they large sky cranes or just truck-mounted style?
Can anyone get closer to see what they're doing or working on maybe?

They are skycranes...i would guess...but not to the size that are currently building the Contempory DV....I mean...Project X.....

If somewhere to drive into the parking lot of Typhoon...they may get a better idea....I don't think that the driveway and parking lot would be closed off...there really is no point to doing that....

Are these actually at TL, or at the neaby Bonnet Creek resort?

Typhoon....remember that 536 (Epcot Center Drive) separates Typhoon from Bonnet Creek on that side...and backs up to Buena Vista Drive, Team Disney, and I-4 on the other sides...

the cranes are definitely in Typhoon....but why we don't know....

It would be unlikely that they are adding anything new without some type of press release...

Don't be so sure about that. I don't think there has been an official announcement of the new construction at Contemporary. If so, then I must've missed it.

It is possible that they're just doing some heavy duty refurb work instead of building something new.

TL closed for refurb almost 3 weeks ago and these cranes went up shortly after. Based on the fact that they are right next to eachother (in what appears to be the Crush N Gusher area) it doesn't seem that they are being used for any type of sprucing up... though I/we could be wrong.

Now, my curiousity is up. I'm going to head over there in a bit and see what else there is to see.

Well, the cranes aren't near CnG. They're actually right behind the shark reef. It doesn't look like they are doing anything. Maybe they're replacing some of the large water pump/filters that are clustered back there?

According to documents filed with Orange County, they're replacing wave chamber pipes for the wave pool.
