Day 6 - Wednesday, October 24th
We didn’t set a wake up call for today, so it wasn’t until 9:30 that we were up. Today is a waterpark day. This is the first time since John & I honeymooned at WDW that we’d be spending a day at a waterpark. We would be able to use those old tickets we had to enter Typhoon Lagoon. The boys couldn’t decide which park to go to, so they did Heads/Tails. TL beat Blizzard Beach. We had some Danish & croissants in the room ($6.04) from Mara and then we were on a bus by 10:30. After a quick stop at Downtown Disney we arrived at TL about 11:00. We had to rent towels ($1.00 each) & a small locker($10.00, with a deposit back) to store our shoes & bags.
We live about 90 minutes from Wisconsin Dells, the Waterpark Capital of the World. To say the boys were disappointed in TL would be an understatement. They are used to fast, tall, and exciting slides . . . not exactly what TL offers. Would they have been more excited about Blizzard Beach – we’re not sure but we’ll head there next time.
We ate lunch of hotdogs & kids grilled cheese pretzels. Then it was off to more slides – Crush n’ Gusher was ok but way too short. It was still kinda warm but overcast so the park wasn’t even crowded. We did a loop of the entire park before ending with a few laps in the lazy river and some waves in the wave pool. There was lightening in the area, so they shut the waves down. At that point we decided to leave just as it started to rain. Back on the bus to AKL so we could shower before heading back to Downtown Disney to do some shopping – my favorite !
When we got to Downtown Disney about 7:00pm we were all pretty hungry so we decided to eat at a favorite of ours – Earl of Sandwich. John had the Beef n Bleu, I had a BLT with the tomato soup (which was delish), Matt & Nate both had PB&J with chips ($27.80). As always, we weren’t disappointed but we were full. This restaurant never disappoints.
We let the boys play at Legoland while John & I sat on a bench by the water. It was a nice evening out and we enjoyed this semi-quiet time together. All too soon the boys wanted to go to World of Disney, so that’s where we went. We were in there over an hour ! We ended up buying a new address book ($12.00), our Scrapbook album ($28.00), a placemat for our dog Lilo's food/water dish ($3.95), 2 matching frames ($25.00 each), a Tink antenna topper ($4.95), a soccer antenna topper ($4.95), John bought a polo shirt ($42.00), a Disney Cookbook ($19.95), and we were able to get the promotion item of a Charger (castle serving plate) for $20.00. Thank goodness for that AP/Visa discount !
We stopped in Team Mickey and was able to find Nate a shirt with the Big Bad Wolf playing soccer on it and Disney’s Wide World of Sports on the sleeve ($18.11). He was so excited he almost didn’t want anything else . . . almost ! And of course we had to stop at Goofy’s Candy Co so the boys could do the Make Your Own dipped pretzel rods ($3.50) and dipped marshmallows ($2.12). We spent the rest of the night browsing and didn’t get back to the room until midnight !

you answered my question!!!
Thank you for your review on TL. We too are from Wisconsin and head to the Dells many times. I guess I have always felt that why go to WDW to do waterparks when we have the Dells, but my girls 8 & 11 wanted to try them out this December. Now I can say that we should pass. We are actually heading to Sheboygan this weekend for a hotel with slides. Glad to hear that you had a good time in Florida. We head out in 22 days.
Did you fly AirTran, SW or Midwest?
