Default Magical Express & luggage question

We will be arriving to MCO late...11pm or so. If I would choose to pick up and carry my own luggage (instead of having it delivered), do I check in at the desk first or go get my luggage from baggage claims first and then proceed to check in at desk?

Get your luggage first. You'll be directed to the line to wait for your bus. You don't want to miss that!

Make sure you DON'T put the yellow disney tag on your luggage if you are picking it up yourself...they remove those pieces of luggage before it gets to the carosel...We will arrive at 9:30pm and will get our luggage, as we will want to get to bed...my daughter's luggage was delivered after 1am last time...besides hubby is golfing at 7am the next day and he wants to make sure he has his clubs...

Enjoy your vist...only 7 more days 'till we leave...HURRAY....

Forgive me...I'm still just a little confused. If I decide to go get my luggage at baggage claim....do I need to still check in at the ME desk at the airport to let them know I'm there for the bus?

Yes you will. First go claim your luggage (make sure you do not use the yellow tags when you check your luggage at your original airport). Once you have your luggage you can go check in at the ME counter and they will direct you to your bus and you will be taken to your resort.

I hope it's okay if I piggyback onto this thread a little bit!

I'm heading down to the World with my DS and DBF in early December and I'm planning on using DME for the first time. I'm fairly certain we'll only have carry-on luggage (DBF travels for work every other week and is a packing genius).

If I am reading this right, we simply go to the DME podium, check in for our bus and go to our resort? Is this correct?

Yes, this is correct. It's exactly the same as you'd do it if you had checked luggage with your airline.

    Default Another question

I am going down in Jan. and I will be driving but my niece is coming out from CA. Can she alone take the Magical Express? Also can she get off the first hotel stop so I can pick her up for dinner since it will be late?

As long as your niece is on your room reservation (or has a room booked in her name), she can us Magical Express even if she is not arriving at the same time as you are.

Different buses take different routes. Your resort might be the first stop for any particular bus. I don't think they'll monitor her if she gets off at a resort other than the one she is scheduled to check into.

There's no way to know in advance what the "first stop" will be. The order of drop-off is completely at the discretion of the driver. I guess she could ask the driver where he/she will drop-off first and then she could call you, but it's also possible that that won't make geographical sense for you.

    Certainly!

I know he thinks very highly of this site www.onebag.com and the "bundle packing" technique in the How To Pack section.

I tried it myself for a week long trip in the spring and was really impressed that I actually could take a weeks worth of clothing in a roll aboard suitcase. I still might take my larger suitcase and check it on this trip so I can take full size toiletries. Not to mention the fact that I must have room for souvenirs!

What I do is: "You pack it, you carry it!"

That tends to keep things light. Works for me!

Ok... so if I use ME I don't have to have them handle my luggage?? I can pick it up myself and take it to the bus?? Do they then put it in the under the bus storage and take it out for you at your stop?? I will be going next year and will probably be using this. But I don't want to have them deliver my luggage. I don't like the idea of not knowing when it will show up.

That is correct, just do not use the yellow tags and you can go pick up the luggage in baggage claim yourself and then head over to the ME counter with your luggage. It will get loaded under the bus and then at your stop you will just retrieve it from there.
