Default Wow, What a Train Wreck...

Man, I just had to tune in for the first 5 mins of the VMA's last night to see Britney. Man, that was sad. I mean sometimes you just feel bad for her, but what was she thinking?

There were SOO many things wrong with that. The Lip Syncing, the Horrible Dancing, (I mean it looked like she wasn't even trying) the bad extension job on the hair, the slutty outfit.

I really deep down wanted it to be good, for her to redeem herself. I wanted her to blow us away and prove that she has the talent to make it work.

    It didn't happen.

I couldn't agree more. I thought I was seeing things when she actually stopped lip syncing in the middle of the song. I honestly felt bad for her.

I didn't see it, but from the way it sounds she just killed her career.

She missed the prime opportunity to begin repairing herself in the public eye.

Her performance was dreadfully painful to watch. The people in the audience looked mortified.

Apparently according to the news wire, she was crying backstage afterward.

I cannot feel sorry for her. It's her children I feel bad for.

I saw it on the Today show this morning, it was so horrible to watch, and then Justin won a bunch of awards. You look at Madonna who is an excellent performer and business woman and can transform herself and you think these people would learn from her how to keep going. She's one of the few who was popular when I was in high school and kids today still know who she is (I think they do anyway LOL).

That performance wasnt not one of top pop star.
It was sad very , very sad !
She was so uncomfortable on stage - within her own skin. Was it practiced more than once. She was thrown together( who is her hair dresser and stylsit/). Why didnt soemone help her with this !!! wow
I cant beleive it- I was exspecting more.
She was a fabulous performer( for that style of music). She always looked Hot- dresser cool and danced her booty off. What happened Brit?
I guess all those long nights of parties wore her out. She loooked tired. I hope she uses this as a wake up call on all matters professionally and personally. Anyone can change there life around- especially a rich pop star!

I watched it just to see her and if the people would laugh at her. Even in rehearsals she wasnt really doing anything. She looked like she could care less if she was dancing or singing last nite.It was bad.If she really wanted to clean up her look in peoples eyes she shouldve sang her song live and really put on a show instead of the joke she preformed last nite.

I was also sort of hoping for a great performance from her. I hate to say it but I never thought she had a great voice but she was a great performer and really put on a show. I was hoping that she could get her act together but it just did not happen. You could tell that the people in the audience were uncomfortable watching her and felt bad for her. I think alot of them were hoping she would pull it off too. I think until she gets her personal act together she won't be able to get her career going again. She needs to fix whatever her problem is (maybe rehab would help) and get her life together for the sake of her career and most importantly her kids. She needs to get out of the clubs and back into the dance studio.

I didn't think much of it..but have a few thoughts as to "how" this may have happened.

The "producer" for the show (timberland) was quoted a lot as to how he didn't want her, she wasn't good enough etc. Is it possible that she wasn't alloted enough practice time & the constant negative comments might have unsettled her? Also the media harping on her being out of shape..I don't know but that looked like pretty good shape to me (for two kids under two right?)

Seems to me no matter how she did the pressure on that performance was going to be insane and it's quite possible that she just had to get through that one to "get her game" back. I'm still willing to listen to the next album before I right her off completely.

I watched a little of her and then turned it off. It was bad. I think the whole plan of this being her big comeback back-fired. From what I've seen on TV this morning, most of the top newspapers around the country were pretty hard on her too.

She is through, She has gotten EVERYTHING she deserves. I hope she has saved her money. Considering she never could sing...She has lasted longer than she should have.

I was really hoping for a great performance from Brit but it was painful to watch. She looked ill-prepared as if she had not even practiced.

Poor thing. She should focus on her kids and give it a rest for a while.

I didn't know Timbaland was the producer of the show. He has actually helped skyrocket MANY stars. He helped Justin on his last album, and has NUMEROUS singles out now. If Timbaland knows how to do only one thing, it would be producing. He knows what works. And if he didn't want Britney, its because he knew it wouldn't work.

She looked horrified and like she didn't know how to move out there. Her body didn't look bad, but it wasn't worthy of the outfit. And it wasn't what she used to be and was known for (it sure wasn't her singing voice!).

As far as her hair, you'd think she'd be able to find a good looking wig! I guess they found one at the Halloween Superstore and had it velcro it onto her little hair she's got growing now.

As far as lip sync-ing. She always did that, even for concerts (I saw her before she was famous when she opened for N SYNC... yeah that was 1997... she was doing it way back then! And you can't really hack on her for it, because Chris Brown did it to, just like he did on The Today Show a few weeks ago.

Anyway, it was difficult and very awkward to watch. I think she just officially killed her performing career. By no means did this take her out of the spotlight. If anything, it has caused her more publicity.

    Unhappy

Sad, very, very sad! Scary as to how unfocused her eyes were. This young woman really needs help and she's not going to find it in Hollywood. She needs to take a few years out of the limelight and work on getting herself together for her and her little guys and worry about the career later.

I've never had a problem with Britney lip-synching because she dances so much. But last night I wouldn't call anything she did dancing. I was a big Britney fan in high school and a little in college when she was insanely popular. I still like her because I think she is very good when she wants to be. She needs to be smart about what she does and last night was not in any way the time or place to make a comeback. I really wanted to like her performance but about two seconds into it I knew that she was in trouble. After she was done I said "well, that was akward!" I wonder if in a way she was set up. Like the MTV people were hoping she would bomb in order to catch ratings. I can't remember the VMA's creating this much buzz in a long time.

I actually got angry when Sarah Silverman (who I despise) called Birtney's children "the most adorable mistakes you will ever see." No one deserves that kind of insult.

Nikki, I agree- I thought Sarah Silverman was worse than Britney.

Britney looked scared to death, as if she has never been on a stage. I think it was all just too much for her to take on yet. She should have given herself more time. And maybe she needs to move on from the idea that she's all about the oversexed nymphette image that started her out. If she wants a career, she has to take a page from Madonna's playbook and go for total reinvention. No one's even talking about the new song today and that's not helping her. She's got too many people around her to tell what she wants to hear, not what she needs to hear.
