Default Thinking of Music on Space Mountain...

Here's a little question for all of you...

If you could put music in the WDW Space Mountain, what song would you choose?

Wow that is a tough question!! I think one would have to be specially made for it.

Dont laugh but Grease Lightening and Rocket Man are the two that came to mind lol... and neither are good for that ride

Holst's "The Planet Suite," particularly the Jupiter Hymn or Mars movement.

Mars is definitely a good idea.

I wouldn't want anything with words, personally. You leave so much more to the imagination that way.

I just asked DH... he said he thinks it should be "Ground Control To Major Tom by David Bowie"

I had a bit of a thought about this...for something very sinister before the actual launch...does anyone remember Unicron's theme music from the old Transformers movie?

if not, plug Unicron into Youtube or something and lsten for yourself...creepy stuff.

I don't think Space Mountain needs music. The new version at Disneyland is popular, but I like the Magic Kingdom version.

If Disney was to add music, I agree it should be instrumental.

I agree that Space Mountain doesn't need music. If music were to be added, I would go with Holst's The Planets or something from 2001: A Space Odyssey. I've heard the Disneyland soundtrack and I think it sounds terrible, almost something that one would hear on a sitcom and totally devoid of mystery. I hope Disney World never gets that soundtrack.

I agree as the music from 2001 Space Odessesy is the music I would say.

The music for the Disneyland version ROCKS, and is totally appropriate. I hope the MK version gets a rehab very soon! It's sorely needed, IMO.

How about "Space Cowboy" by Steve Miller?

    Smile Space Cowboy

I love that!!! We have never ridden Space Mountain but plan to this trip (just 20 more days). How does Space mountain compare to Rock-N-Roller Coaster?

I love the two songs from Space Mountain they have on the 50th Celebration CDs at Disneyland. One is what they have now... which is AMAZING! Its so much fun.. dark... the music goes SO well with the ride. The other is the "Daytime" version... but its a wet-retro version of St. Saines by Debussy... aka the opening song in Impressions De France at the France Pavilion. Its pretty awesome!

If they do add music, it should be just like Disneyland.

Why not theme it around "Captain EO" and play "We Are Here to Change Your World"? The loading area CM's could be doing the disco routines from the old film. Those annoying muppet creatures could be worked in somehow, too.

Would be a lot better than some of the suggestions I've seen here and elsewhere.

I kind of like the "music" they play for the queue. Other than that, how about the theme song from Lost in Space? You want to stump a lot of people with a cool trivia question? Ask them to hum that theme song for you. Drives 'em crazy. Not many people get it.
