    Default POR or Poly?

For an additional $850 I can get the Poly w/a Garden View for our 4 nights. Which would you choose?

Poly, as long as you don't need that $850 for doing more things on your trip.

Poly! I've stayed at both and while POR is nice, Polynesian is spectacular and worth every penny. You have 'Ohana, Kona, and the Tambu Lounge on premises, a very cool pool with the beach and view, a relaxed feel that is less spread out than POR, and excellent transportation options that take a lot of the stress and hassle right out of your trip. If affordability is not a huge factor, it's Polynesian all the way.

$850? $850? We don't worry too much about money but $850. Any Clark Howard fans?

This was my choice for September Poly or POR and I chose POR. It came down to $850 and my children will love it just the same.

I think it depends on what you want out of your vacation. If your looking to relax, layout by the pool and enjoy the amenities. The deluxe resort is way to go, but if your looking to spend a lot of time in the parks you have to ask your self if your really getting $850 more out of the room for not being in it all day and just using it for a place to sleep and shower. What ever you deicide you'll still have a great trip afterall you are going to Disney!

If the $850 is "throw away money", then definitely the Poly. Just the sheer time you will save on transportation is worth the cost (atleast for me and my family.)

With 4 days, my guess is you will be hitting MK and Epcot. You may get all 4 parks, but with such a short stay, I am guessing you will definitely hit those two, with the other two parks being "optional". That alone (monorail travel to MK & EP) makes things much easier.

I guess my question would be is how many people in your family and what are their ages. We've done both (me, DH, DS12, DDs6) and found POR a little cramped for 5 people. Also, the travel time was much more than when we stayed at the Poly. With younger kids I would vote for the Poly!

I agree with other posters with that it depends upon how important that $850 is - would it do better in your children's college fund or your 401K? Could you invest it over the next year, and then use your profits to do the Poly worry-free next year?

If not, go for the Poly. You'll probably find yourself staying on-site more since the hotel is so great. You'll save tons of time on travel. And you are surrounded by lots of primo restaurants both at the Poly and on the monorail. Plus, you can enjoy "Wishes" every night from the beach, without having to stand in crowds and rush back to your hotel; you'll have the "Water Pagent"; the Poly has nightly live music; and it has the only coffee bar around (if you like coffee, which I love).

If money's not an issue, go with the Poly.

The Poly is the best but POR ain't to shabby. We found it to be very relaxing. If the money's not an issue go with the Poly hands down.I usually talk myself out of it when I start thinking that the extra money saved would get us on the meal plan,or pay for our flights and stuff like that, but if you can swing it ,go with the Poly!

Thanks all! I had gotten one of my last minute should I do this...Even though not decided yet, I realize we are at a point with our WDW trips that we try to make them more relaxing. Even though we will certainly hit all 4 parks plus DTD we still are able to do it all in a relaxing way.

Normally we dont spend the extra for Deluxe resorts,Its due to the fact we just cant afford them that often. If YOU can afford staying at the Poly...Then DO IT! You deserve it.
We have stayed at W.L. and C.R. in the past.

If it were me, and it was for 4 days, I don't think I would do it, I'd stay at POR. I think. Don't get me wrong, I would love to stay at the Poly someday, but I would want to be there long enough to fully appreciate everything the Poly has to offer. I want to be able to enjoy what I spent an extra $850 on!

But it really comes down to you...can you swing an extra $850? Will your family be at the resort enough to enjoy it?

To me, if you can afford the extra $850.00, go for the Poly! We like POR but we love Poly! It is absolutely WONDERFUL!

Poly! It is our favorite. The only reason we are staying at WL in Sept is because my sister-in-law wants to stay at WL.
