Nurse/Teacher Rates at Swan/Dolphin?
Does anyone know of any recent discount rates for teachers or nurses at the Swan/Dolphin?

Thanks Jason. I'm crunching numbers to see whats cheapest. I did the worksheet for the dining, and it said it would be little use for us, so we're ok w/ not staying at a Disney resort. The Disney website wasn't working too well, so it was hard to get a real price on some things.
This helps quite a bit, thanks!

Well, my partner and I are both nurses, so needless to say, The Dolphin is our 'home resort'.
Just a suggestion...We have always booked a 'Standard View' room when making our ressies, then while checking in *politely* asked if there were any 'upgrades' available.
Without fail, we have received 'lake view' rooms, and on occasion even 'resort view'...all for the *very* reasonable price of a 'standard view'.
There's NO guarantee that this will happen, of course...But, it's worth the gamble for us.
Enjoy your stay.

I would definately call the resort and ask for the rate for the time you want to go. A friend and his wife just went on the nurses' rate and got the room for $125 the last weekend of Feb - Jason has it listed at $189, so I'm wondering if they discount the rooms further if they are not busy. He booked only about 6 weeks in advance. It's always worth a shot!

Oh yeah, we'll def call.. we just need to pick dates! My dad is also a Starwood Reward Points type person.. so i think we get an automatic upgrade anyway. But hey.. it never hurts to ask!
Thanks everyone for your input, I shall keep everyone posted!

We're going to the Swan in July and I got it for $149/night at the teacher discount.
Just signed up for Starwood Preferred Points, too. Hoping to get an upgrade or any kind of extra perk

They may, but I seem to also recall a separate special discount being available during that time period -- they may have given them the other, larger discount instead.
What I posted are the rates published at the beginning of this year by the Swan & Dolphin. I agree that it would not hurt to call and confirm that they have not adjusted their discount during your vacation period.

I just called and for my dates in Oct and what Jason gave are indeed accurate. They were very friendly and were happy to just answer the resort price question.
Since we had to jimmy our dates, looks like this will be our best bet, as its Reg. season for Disney resorts.
Thanks everyone for your help. We could do it in the summer, but we really want to experience the Halloween stuff at the parks for the first time, and I found great airfare, so we should be coming out the same.
