Question

Hello all,
I'm Joe. My fiance' and I will be going to Disney World in early August for our Honeymoon. I have been charged with making all the plans and deciding the where, when, and how (much).

We know we definatly want to stay on site and in a moderate or delux resort. But which, I don't know. Any advice on where to stay and what to do as honeymooners would be great. We don't plan on spending much time in the room, but aren't very aware of what is available in the resorts, outside the parks.

When it comes to packages, parks, meals and shows, I/we don't have a clue of what we should or should not do. We'll be staying for a week so time shouldn't be a limitation. Are there any special events or accomidations we can take advantage of as newlyweds? We are very open to anything and are not too worried about making this trip too romantic. We just want to have fun!

I would really appriciate any advice. And I'm new, so please explain acronyms, if used. I get confused

Thanks a bunch,
Joe

Oh yeah...
And who is good to book our vacation with, who will look out for our best interests?
Local Travel agent?
AAA?
Disney Travel Agency?

We have a Disney credit card, but I don't think we can use that unless we book through Disney.

Thanks in advanced,
Joe and Marybeth

Hi, Joe! Welcome to Intercot!

First off, expect it to be quite hot and humid when you are in Disney World! Secondly, if you're there in early August, you will still be in prime summer vacation season so expect it to be quite busy.

As far as resorts...there are a number of wonderful resorts on site. Here's some information on the resorts available. For romance, I'd suggest either the Polynesian (deluxe) or Port Orleans Riverside (moderate). If you want to go all out, then you might take a look at The Grand Floridian (the top of the deluxes on property). For specific questions on resorts, you might want to post your questions in the Accommodations forum.

You might also want to check out the information on Romance at Walt Disney World. It contains lots of suggestions!

To help you make your arrangements, I'd suggest working with Magical Journeys Travel. They're experts on Disney and can help you sort out all your options! Plus, it won't cost you anything to use their services. I've used them on my last two trips to Disney World and will use them again in the future! They're also a sponsor of this site so using them helps support Intercot.
This information should help you sort out what all those abbreviations mean.

I'd also suggest getting a guide book that outlines all that Disney has to offer. The Official Guide, the Unofficial Guide, and Passporter are the most popular choices. You can purchase them at Amazon.com or check out your local library.

Have fun with your planning! Keep asking questions! Folks here love to share their knowledge of all things Disney!

Hi Joe!
Congrats on your upcoming wedding. My dh and I honeymooned in WDW and we loved every minute of it. We stayed at the Boardwalk Villas because we own timeshare there. It's a nice choice because there's a lot to do on the boardwalk. When we got to our room, they had a nice tray set up w/the honeymooning pins. 1 mickey groom pin, and 1 minnie bride pin) it said, "Happy Honeymoon" from Boardwalk. A nice touch.
We had dinner at Cinderella's Royal Table in the castle. When you say you are there for your honeymoon, they make sure to put you near the window. They also decorate your table w/ribbons and you get 2 wedding flutes that say "Cinderella's Royal Table." We didn't really tell anyone else that it was our honeymoon but I hear if you make a big deal of it, so do they. Enjoy it! A nice romantic thing to do might be to book the fireworks cruise for 2. We didn't get to do it but will for our upcoming trip. Good luck!

Buy the cheesy Bride & Groom mickey ears when you first arrive. Whenever you wear them in the parks, Cast members will go out of their way to congratulate you and do little extras for you!
I'm finally going back! Next trip: July 16-22, 2006!

Hi Joe -Welcome to Intercot! My DH and I went to WDW for our honeymoon and loved it. We stayed at the Poly, which I would highly recommend for a honeymoon. Beautiful atmosphere -the grounds are so lush with tropical plants, the torches lit at night with the polynesian music playing - very romantic! And you can't beat the great restaurants and location, monorail-accessible, boat ride to MK. You just can't beat the Poly for a trip as special as a honeymoon. Good luck with the planning and let us know how it goes.
