OK, the official packing has begun! It may be a little early, but I might as well pack our summer clothes into a suitcase than into a box in the basement for a week or two then get them back out. Anyway, I'm really having to reduce what we're bringing since we switched from driving to flying at the last minute and I was just curious. Do you pack your old-comfie clothes (jersey short and elastic waists) or do you pack nicer but less comfortable clothes? I've been planning on the newer, more flattering clothes, but I'm beginning to think "this is my vacation, I want to be comfortable!" Just curious

Comfort! I do bring a couple of nice outfits for special events or days when we want to take pictures, but mostly I want to be dressed for comfort because I'm kind of a commando. Besides, no matter how well you dress, you're not going to look that great at the end of the day--between the heat, exertion, and water rides, you're going to look pretty rough as it is.

Interesting question. I pack for both. Some days I wear my comfy clothes and other days I get a little more dressed up. No matter what my outfits are usually loose fitting with plenty of room to breathe. I bring 2 nice outfits along for dinners to CA Grill and Jiko but otherwise it is comfy but classy.

Both...I pack a Disney t-shirt for each day - very comfortable and in my opinion very stylish and super appropriate for the Disney parks!

    Mostly for Comfort...

In fact my brother and my wife were making fun of me when we went. I had wool socks with hiking boots. May sound warm, but I learned from my hiking days that there's nothing better for long walks/treks.

Course, with the shorts, and wool socks, hiking boots and I was also the assigned Backpack carrier... I got ribbed by being called "Scout Master" the whole time

I try to pack comfortable clothes that look nice. I will wear khaki shorts and nice t-shirts, and I always iron them before I pack them.

Well, I will not be found running around in my gym clothes on vacations, but I do bring nice comfortable clothes for the most part. The exceptions would be bathing suits and also dinner attire. I usually bring a few nice dinner outfits and some more casual dinner outfits (other than what I wear to the park).

On our first trip, I packed strictly for looks. All new clothes, very stylish. I wound up wearing the most comfortable things more than once and most of the clothes went home unworn. On our second trip, I packed about half and half and the same thing happened. I have learned my lesson. Comfort and definately elastic waists for the end of the trip

I agree with Beckybalz. I've been purchasing Disney logo clothes with an eye for comfort. Now when I plan a trip -- WDW or Disneyland -- it's super-easy to know what to take. I only wear my New Balance tennies because of the tremendous amount of walking, standing, etc. and the casual clothing looks put-together with that.

I'll also take one dressier outfit for the more upscale restaurants and for church.

I tend to wear comfortable clothing that looks good on me always, so it's a no-brainer. I never wear 'gym shorts' EVER. I rarely ever wear 'sneakers' or runners, or trainers or whatever you want to call them. I usually wear a comfortable shoe or sandle with a 2 inch wedge heel every day no matter what but I'm not insane, and will be wearing sneakers in Disney. (I will feel like a total dweeb, but my feet will thank me!)

I actually bought a pair of the hanes shorts from Intercot and while they are nice, they are alittle too casual for me for regular day wear.

I usually wear dressier shorts with a zipper or belt loop style (Dockers), and I LOVE my jean shorts for the very casual look.

I could not imagine wearing sweats or hang loose clothes. They are what I wear when I'm cleaning.

I usually dress slightly more 'casual' in WDW because of the heat and humidity, but I always want to look good. (I'm wierd! )

The older I get, the more "comfort" wins out. Cotton Khaki pants with elastic band (a must when you eat just a few too many rice crispie treats ) or capri pants (depending on weather) with nice cotton character shirts and sneakers (or comfy sandals with capri's) to round it out is typical park wear for me...come to think of it, this is typical going grocery shopping, going to the mall, quick dinner out at the diner wear too .

    Thumbs up

Comfort comfort comfort! I DO wear gym shorts and by the end of the day I look like I just came from the gym. A loose t-shirt and $10 sneakers from Walmart complete the look! Ok, in January '02 I had jeans and it was cool enough, but the following September and February I was in sweat shorts and sweating. The bargain t-shirts we picked up in Daytona Beach served their purpose. Why ruin nice clothes?

I remember Billy Crystal playing a character on SNL in the mid 80's (ah, my childhood) ... I think his name was "Fernando" or something like that ... but the famous line was "It's better to look good than to feel good." HOG WASH! I'm on vacation, darnit! Maybe this coming November will justify wearing something different for a change. I'll have to see when we get there.

My girlfriend has a few pairs of pleated (but not khaki in color) cotton shorts and skorts from Walmart. She stays cool in them and they look nice. And her back pocket (they all only have one) can keep our room keys/hoppers secure and handy (no fanny pack weighing her down, plus the fashion thing for her). Not exactly t-shirts with typical short sleves but rather sleeveless T's - from Kohl's (they routinely have these cheap cheap 4th of July type things on deep discount each summer). Her sneakers are usually from Walmart too, but she did have a K-mart pair recently.

Oh, I forgot the AK safari hat I got on the last trip! Its very functional, even if I thought it was silly at first. Then again, I tried using an umberella before realizing the requirement of the classic yello poncho. I got used to it. Its not always about fashion, but sometimes it is a little bit.

We've only had dinner twice at a WDW resort (Chef Mickey's and 1900PF) and it was total casual. On our first trip we went to DD Rainforest Cafe. Same come as you are look. That's how things are at WDW and we live it! Ok, so for PI we get changed. But when eating BBQ at Golden Corral's buffet for dinner, I don't worry about walking out with stains on my shirt! There is always the laundry by the pool at whatever All Stars we are at.

The Grand Floridian look just isn't us.

No matter what you wear, you are pretty much guaranteed NOT to be the worst dressed folks around. I vote for comfy clothes, anyone who's gonna be bothered by your apparel with all that eye candy around WDW is definitely not worth fussing over.

    HI-

I bring comfort clothes for the parks during the day and more dressy clothes for dinner and evening events at night. I also only bring comfort shoes. In May, I only brought "good looking aka uncomfort" shoes and my feet paid the price.

I leave today! I leave today! I leave today!

I would go for comfort also, why go to a park and look your best then in the Florida sun sweat all over them? The dry cleaning bill would be outragious, at least you could wipe the sweat on your t-shirt and no one would no the difference. Most people that go are in comfy cloths, you would look like royalty if you dressed up all the time. The comfy shoes are a must. I went in August and had blisters, it was painfull but since I was in Disney I wasn't going to let a little pain stop me.
