We are staying at the Courtyard Marriott Downtown Disney. Since it is an official hotel, we are allowed to use Disney Transportation, although the shuttle that goes from the hotel is not a disney shuttle. Our shuttle drops off at the TTC, which becomes a problem for early entry, since the TTC transportation doesn't open until 7:30, and we could be at the gate by then with Disney Transportation. So, my question.....

Can we drive to a disney resort & park there to use the shuttle, or would someone notice? Part 2, if you think we could get away with that, which resort would you recommend we go to?

    No

You can not park your car at a resort and leave it to go to the Parks for the day, if you are not a resort guest.

Even if you are dining at a resort, you will receive a 3 hour parking pass.

Why don't you just drive to whatever park it is you want to go to and park the car there?

I don't see what parking at a resort would gain you.

On Early Entry days the monorail is running early.

The last time we stayed "off site" and thought about this same thing, but, no can do. You must be a guest at the resort or have some reason to be there (i.e. a character breakfast at the hotel) We thought we would be "so smart" by starting off the day with breakfast at Chef Mickey's and just leave our car at the Cont. for the day but they only give you a 2 hour parking permit and warn that they will tow. I don't think it will work but it is a good thought.

We're staying at the Grosvenor (DD). According to their website, they provide a special bus for early entry which goes directly to the park. I think this bus is for all of the DD hotels.

In the past my family has "bent the rules" when it came to parking - and only when it was not very busy. We might stay an hour or so past our parking time, although I admit it is not the right thing to do. We have stopped this because we don't like the guilty feeling we get when we see the guard at the booth.

Since Sept 11th I wouldn't even think of leaving my car unattended past the indicated parking time. I know that the Disney folks are lax about towing, but now I would completely understand if they are hot under the collar to get excess cars out of the lot. Security is too tight to take that gamble.
