Cool

My daughter's boyfriend is going to propose to her at WDW at Christmas and he needs some special ideas. Any ideas from those who have been proposed to. They have been to WDW once together last summer and it is a special place to them. There will be a group of six of us and we are going to be going to Narcoosee's the first night and he is thinking of proposing there. Open to any suggestions?

Okay, I have not been proposed to at WDW, but if I had been...

Next to the castle, is a wishing well, at night, when the goodnight kiss is happening (this is where the castle turns colors), I think this would be a romantic spot

On the beach between the Poly and the GF Pool, over by where the wedding chapel is -- again at night when the fireworks are just about to go off - perfect timing is required here ... she says yes, and the first fireworks go off (you'd have to have a trial run here to see how to time it all, without anyone knowing you were doing a trial run)

On the friendship boat, during illuminations at EPCOT

Dinner at Victoria and Albert's, where everyone is very dressed up, and have the chef prepare a SPECIAL dessert, complete with ring
One other not very romantic, but very "picture opportunity" ... since you are there at Christmas time...

On main street, will be a holiday setting, complete with open sled and trees, to have a family picture done. Have them sit there, and have him propose -- what a wonderful picture for engagement announcements for the paper!
These are just some that "come to mind"

    Talking

You can take the one I used...

I brought Kathy (my fiancee) over to the mosaics in Cinderella Castle. We spent a few minutes looking at them as I narrated the story of Cinderella. When we got to the scene with Prince Charming down on one knee putting the slipper on Cindeella, I slipped the box out of my pocket, got down on one knee and proposed.
I think it went rather well... you'd just want to get there early when the park opens so that there aren't too many people around or in the way. If your future son-in-law is interested, he can contact Disney and have something "special" set up...

Wow! Imalismom - those are AWESOME ideas! Any of those would be spectacular!

I can only add one more idea -- enlist the help of some pixies from Gifts of a Lifetime.

It's not cheap, and it may not be as romantic, but it is definitely memorable!

Sometimes the Disney characters will participate if you can arrange to speak to a manager in advance. I know of a proposal that took place in Fort Wilderness with Chip and Dale in attendance. The future bride thought that she and her guy were just going for a scenic walk when Chip and Dale appeared. Chip produced the ring as the guy proposed to his astonished fiance.

I'm not saying this is a common practice, but it has happened. Good luck.

That would be so cool! However, if I were proposing at WDW, I would probably want fireworks in the picture. Although this is SUCH a cool idea....

Sorry, just wanted to give kudos to Gale!

Hmm well thinking of how I might want to be proposed to...

I am not really into big public scenes, so I might do it somewhere more private. I know we have had some good posts here about engagements, maybe you could do a search here on the boards...

My choice might be the beach at the Polynesian, the waterfall lookout at the Wilderness Lodge, or maybe on the balcony of the Mexico pavillion during Reflections of Earth in the World Showcase.

Have them rent a water sprite (the little motor boats) at the GF or Polynesian. Have him take the ring. Have him drive the boat over to the wedding pavilion and propose there (at sunset possibly?). If you time it right, the rest of you can be at the pier at the pavilion and can take pictures and applaud *when* she says "yes"!

Anyone is free to tour the pavilion as long as there is not a wedding going on. Call the Fairy Tale Weddings dept. before your trip to see what days/times the pavilion will be open.

My husband proposed on the balcony at the Contemporary overlooking the Magic Kingdom. It was our private moment. He also arranged for a dozen red roses and a white chocolate engagement cake (complete with Minnie and Mickey cake top) to appear afterwards. He had a CM friend help him out, but I think you can arrange lots things through Gifts of a Lifetime.

    Cool

RobWreck, I loved your proposal story! How about modifying it just a bit so that the proposal is in the evening, and the groom-to-be gets down on bended knee just as Tinkerbell flies and the fireworks start going off?

Or maybe the groom-to-be could contact WDW ahead of time and see he and his intended could be the grand marshalls of the afternoon parade at MK (all in secret, of course). Then as the parade is wending down the street he could pop the question. Not a private proposal, that's true, but one she'll never forget!
