Has anyone eaten here for dinner? How is it? What can I expect? Is it worth the ca$$h even if there are no Characters?

Cape May Cafe has one of the best buffets around WDW. Lot's of seafood. The clam chowder is nice, and the peel 'n' eat shrimp were a big hit with my daughter. There's plenty of non seafood, though. They usually have specials served by a chef - non-seafood and seafood each night - like a carving board roast beef or something. They have lots of salads and fruit, and the desserts are particularly good.

By the way, they have character breakfasts there every morning - Minnie, Goofy, Pluto, Chip 'n' Dale.

Hubby and I ate there 2 times last year during our weekend getaway and it was FANTASTIC. They have a great buffet with a lot of choices. This is a must! You will definitely enjoy it. Do it early in your trip in case you want to hit it twice. I went at dinner time (6ish) and also last (9:30ish) and it was great both times.

I must be in the minority here, but I think the Cape May STINKS! The food is cold, the place is a mess, and the servers couldn't care less about you. Now keep in mind this is coming form someone in their 20's who ate there with just his girlfriend, but on 3 different occasions, 2 dinners and 1 breakfast. Maybe it was that we didn't have kids, or were just 2 people so the tip wouldn't be that big, but the service was lousy every time. And the food besides being cold, wasn't even really a clam bake, there were shrimp, and some chowder.

I am so sorry to hear that you had such bad experiences there....I usually don't enjoy buffet dinners but this one I thought was very good. I am in my 20s and so is the hubby (I am not sure that really played a role though). I am very picky so I found there selection to be quite good but I take a sit down restaurant anyday over buffet. I love breakfast buffets though especially Spoodles!!

    Cool

I have had it real good and real bad. The beef tips are real good if they still have them. The sweets are average, but I never have room after eating the other stuff!

What you can expect: salad bar, shrimp, chowder and another soup, steamed clams, steamed mussels, baked fish, corn on the cob, boiled red potatos, sirloin tips of beef, sausage, mashed potatos, barbequed ribs and chicken, assorted sweets. Kids area usually has chicken fingers, fried shrimp, tater tots.

Here's another vote "for". We really liked it. The cherrystone clams were the most tender I've ever had.
