Security Screening Increased at Walt Disney World Parks
In the wake of the Pulse nightclub mass shooting tragedy in the Orlando area, Guests at the Walt Disney World theme parks have reported increased security screenings.
Guests traveling to the parks should plan to experience long lines to enter the park and most Guests being screened through metal detectors.

Not surprised to hear this, relieved to see them responding and taking security very seriously as they always have.
Had previous account but can no longer access :(

I have no problem with added security at WDW, the airport, or anywhere. What concerns me though is the holding area at MK before going through the checkpoints. This is one reason we did not do rope drop on our last trip, the large congregation of families waiting and no one has had a security check at the point, the numbers would be devastating. I would not be surprised to see future screening at the TTC.

I thought that as well, Lynn. At various times throughout the day, those areas at all 4 parks become quite crowded. I also wonder if screening could happen before you get on monorail/boat/bus transportation. There isn't any screening done prior to boarding WDW transportation and I think that is a big loophole. I can see an increase in the security screening at the International Gateway entrance to Epcot as well since that entrance has far less security guards than any of the other park entrance.
