    Default Considering First Cruise

Hello! As you can see by my signature, we are frequent visitors to WDW--me, husband, and son, who is five. We are considering our first cruise ever, and first Disney cruise, next summer (2016). I know that itineraries aren't even out that far (at least, I don't think they are), but I'd love input...first, as big fans of the parks, would we likely enjoy a cruise? And second, what recommendations would you make for a cruise? DH and I are both teachers, so summer is our only option.

    Thanks!

Since it is your first cruise, I would suggest going on a shorter cruise. Not everyone likes them. We went on a 4 day cruise, and it was just enough to get our feet wet. Disney cruises are awesome. There is plenty to do without ever leaving the ship. The kids programs are unbeatable. Don't forget your pirate gear!

We just completed our first cruise over Christmas on the Fantasy. We felt that a short trip wouldn't be enough for us and booked the seven day trip. We LOVED it and were glad we booked the longer trip. There was so much to do and see on the ship. We spent three days at the parks before our cruise and enjoyed our Disney immersion for entire time at sea. While on board you can do as much as or as little "Disney" things as you like. We really enjoyed the down time on board.

We had a great time exploring the ship, checking out the movies and all the ship had to offer. Even on the bigger ship we never felt crowded.

The first picture I took of our trip was of Mickey greeting guests in the cruise terminal, glad I got this shot since the line was huge by the time we checked in and all we wanted to do was get on board and start our adventure! Next time I will try to see him or Minnie before we check in.

Agree that a longer trip is best. They go soooo fast. We considered booking a 4 day for our first cruise and opted for 7. I am so glad we did. Disney does everything first rate and I think, like most Disney fans, you will love it. Try to do it early in summer to avoid hurricane season as much as possible.

I agree with the others. We are doing DCL cruises now, rather than the parks. Love the service of the cruises!
