Has anyone ever stayed in a studio villa at AKL? How is it? Should I make any special requests at online check in? We are in a package deal, not renting points, if that matters.
It's pretty much a hotel room with a mini fridge, microwave, and a little sink. View is what you are looking for with AKL. Studios can be parking lot view all the way up to Savanah View.
We usually do the 1 bedroom at Kidani, but we did book a studio last year at Jambo. It did seem bigger than a regular room, and I really liked having the bar area with fridge and sink. We booked a standard studio, but still had a savannah view, which was great. We were all the way at the end of the long hallway, and it felt like a mile every time we went to the lobby. I don't know if that will matter, but next time I will request a room near the lobby. It's so beautiful there.
I do think the studios are a tad bigger, but nothing going to get too excited over. There is a value room which I believe is a converted regular room to a villa style studio room, and those are 'normal' size.
I've found the one bedroom to be a real sweet spot for accommodations. Even if it's just us, the separation on the one bedroom is great at night. The new DVC properties get you two bathrooms as well I think.
AKL can have very long walks. I think we checked it out one year, and from the far end of Kidani to the Mara was almost a mile walk. Don't remember if it was round trip or not, which makes a big difference, but it was insane how big the properties are. Overall, I prefer Kidani to Jambo but really do like the lobby at Jambo better than Kidani.
We've stayed twice in a savannah-view studio at Kidani Village and the room was nice, but it was a little tight. There wasn't a lot of extra room, but it was fine. We were lucky enough to see a lot of zebras and giraffes both times. Hope you have a great stay!
