    Default Rumor...Next DVC.. Rumor

    Remember this is rumored

Well there have been a lot of rumors lately about the next DVC project from FW to a private entrance to Epcot but this one seems very doable. According to various sites the next DVC will not be a new building a new site but rather a conversion of hotel space which would decrease costs.

It seems the deluxe resorts are lagging in occupancy and DVC members are on the rise so they are considering converting some of the floors to DVC units starting with my home resort of WL.
It's also rumored that due to the beachfront space there they will be adding bungalows similar to the ones at the Poly.

If this is the route they choose, whether WL or another resort, what happens to current owners whose contracts expire in 2042? Will they be offered a deal similar to OKW?

    So what do you think?

That's certainly the plan, it pushes the cost of operating a resort to the 'owners' or in the case of DVC, 'renters'.

Off property, properties don't seem to sell real well, so converting existing properties to DVC makes sense. The point costs with the new builds though prices out existing owners for the most part, which increases sales as well. It's a win/lose for Disney/Guests if you ask me...

Sounds like a good idea. That's what AKL did at Jambo house originally right?

When you can't fill your deluxe rooms cause the prices are too darn high, and people have realized that you truly do NOT have deluxe accommodations, as compared to real deluxe accommodations elsewhere, you need to do something to inflate your numbers to make them look good... Disney has been taking rooms out of service for a long time now to make their numbers look good (though 60-79% filled is NOT good compared to, say 90% or more just a few years ago)...

Their business model in WDW is unsustainable... Been saying this for a while now too... Short term profits are more important than long term stability... Kicking the can down the road or so they say... But what do they care? in 2016, it will be a mess for someone else to clean up.. But hey, Wall Street is happy!!!!

TRICIA JONES: I heard that you were going to propose to Brandi Svenning at some theme park. When are men going to learn that women want ROMANCE, not Mr. Toad's Wild Ride...

BRODIE: Hey, now, be fair. EVERYONE wants Mr. Toad's Wild Ride.

Indeed they are! You have to admit it's been a great stock to own the last few years, now it's trapped in the 80's waiting for the next leg up. IMO they need to come up with something big to make it move much higher 8/6.

It doesn't have to come from the theme parks, though, to bring up the stock price, as that is just a portion of the corporation, like Universal Theme Parks are just a piece of the overall Comcast/NBC Universal corporation.

Some more of my thoughts on this subject. It is quite well known by most Disney fans that Disney overbuilt when it came to hotels, which I think was largely due to Eisner being drunk on power and not developing the hotel division properly. That said, the toothpaste is out of the tube. Since you can't go back in time and undo those decisions, Disney needs to find the best way to use this hotel space. DVC is the logical choice because it is financially successful.

This is why Universal is not involved with the hotels attached to the parks. That is Loews responsibility. I see posts and articles saying that Universal is expanding their hotels, but that isn't true. Loews is expanding their hotel footprint.

Sounds like you were told some accurate information but that is just the tip of the iceberg.
