Default ADR's for Beaches & Cream

Good news and bad news. Beaches & Cream has started taking ADR's. Good news if you can get one. Bad news if you ever expect to eat there without one.
This is a very recent change. Some Dining CM's are not yet aware. I booked one for May 20th, today, using MDE, so i am positive about the new policy.

Thanks for the update. I think this place really needed a reservation system. On a whim, we ate there on our last trip (after not having been there in a number of years). It was a rather long wait to end up with a seat at the counter. Personally, I wouldn't hurry back.

We've never eaten there, just because I hated the idea of a crazy long wait.

Being able to make an ADR makes me more likely to give it a try, but I know there are those who will hate having to book it (and I bet the ADR's will be popular).

I guess I'll be the odd man out. We liked that it was not on the ADR system. We have eaten there several times and only had to wait long once. It was our go to place many times when we had a day without an ADR.

I totally agree! We passed once or twice in the past because of a long wait, but just came back another day. Always liked the spontaneity of eating here-sometimes ADRs are just too much. Oh well, guess we'll see how it plays out.

We want to take the DGK for the kitchen sink. Glad I saw this post. We called last night and got two four person reservations...we have 9 people. I figure we'll squeeze in...

Wow. I am afraid this will ruin it. I walked in there on our recent trip, in the afternoon, and the place was pretty empty. No wait at all. Now people will be booking the place up 6 months in advance like everything else.

I'm with both of you. I stay at the Epcot resorts a lot and I've never had a problem getting into Beaches & Cream. We do eat there at off hours. Lunch in particular always worked well for us. I'm hoping most people will do ADRs for dinner and leave some time for us to slip in.

This is a real blow to me as we always stay at BC and eat there 2-3 times on a trip as a quick bite. We usually just sit at the counter and have an entire meal or jsut get ice cream treats. Now I need an ADR to eat a No Way Jose? Really? I know some of the ice cream is available in plastic containers to go, but we enjoyed sitting inside after a long day at the parks to just unwind sometimes. Hoping that there is still some counter space available at odd hours of the day. It was also nice to hop out of the pool and just grab a bite there. I will miss it if it doesn't work out.

Is it just me or are they making it harder to just enjoy yourself on vacation anymore? Between this and the MyMagic+ I am a little upset.

Keep in mind that just because B&C accepts ADRs does not mean you need an ADR. If you go there at odd times normally you should still be able to get in. I have personally tried on 2 occasions to eat at B&C for a "late night" treat only to find a very long wait and we elected to not to wait. The better solution would be to expand this location.

I wouldn't be surprised if you could still walk in for dessert only. Here's my reasoning. There will be people making ADR's that only want dessert. B&C will have no way of knowing this and will have to make enough time to assume that the guests are having a full meal. That should leave enough time to fit a second party in for dessert only.

I'm another one that would prefer no ADR's. If ADR's take over and I can't just walk in, it will be another place on the list of those I never eat at again.

I absolutley despise planning my vacation day around dining reservations and never make any of them.

With or without ADRs popular restaurants will be very busy. ADRs do not make restaurants busy. ADRs allow people to plan ahead if they choose. There is no requirement to plan ahead but doing so saves time.

Without ADRs you are left with: 1) Eating at off times 2) Waiting in long stand by lines 3) Eating counter service only 4) Hopping from Table Service to Table Service restaurant hoping for an available time.

If these options are OK, then ADRs are not needed. Do we think LeCellier would be an easy "walk up" on Friday at 6:30pm without the ADR system?

I have seen people turned away from a restaurant because of existing ADRs, although there is room for them. That is the cause for concern. Perhaps it will not become a big deal.

In my opinion, the 180-day out window for ADRs has not improved the dining experience. I can't see how it will be positive for this location. I still had a much better experience under the old Priority Seating scheme where you could get a table on the same day, or next day, for very many table service locations.

We stopped in a few weeks ago and it was busy but we got counter seats. We had some fun conversations with some of the cast members as they prepared the orders. They told us it was going to ADR's soon. But I think it will still have tables at off hours. if it's a must do, then I would want an ADR.
