First cruise, we got off and walked around the shopping area, up to the Fort, over to the Staricase. The next cruise, we just got off and shopped. On the next cruise, we'll stay on board.

We got a room at the Comfort Suites so we could use the waterpark at the Atlantis. They are just across the driveway from each other.

There were four of us so it actually only cost us about $50 per person to use the park.

Completely agree. I think we've been to Nassau 3 times (4 in a couple weeks). After the second time we decided we wouldn't get off again. I always look at the excursions to see if there is anything new but we enjoy the ship with fewer people on board.

We stayed at the Atlantis in 09 for a week and we really didn't leave there. We did once to blue lagoon island to swim with dolphins which was memorable.
When we did the dream cruise in 2012, we paid a ridiculous amount to hang out at the Atlantis which was NOT WORTH IT. Unfortunately, a lot of people feel the same way you do about staying on the ship so it was crowded...especially the aqua duck.
If we did the cruise again, we would pay the $40 and do the Atlantis beach day. Just access to the beaches there which are beautiful.

If you have smaller kids and you just wanna lay down in a hammock (which is very rare to find in Castaway Cay), you should consider a day in the Blue Lagoon Island.
