    Default Pirates Problems

Hi everyone, the family & I were at WDW last week and for 4 of the 6 days, PotC was closed. Does anyone know why?? We were only able to ride ONCE which is not enough for this pirate at heart. I would appreciate any knowledge to help me get through withdrawal - LOL. Thanks.

The mermaids have been working fine lately. It may have been an unannounced refurb or something to do with the queue work they were doing. I don't know for sure.

Interesting! I had thought that there were to be mermaids when I was there last November, but all we saw was the static mermaid skeleton on the beach. From what you all are saying, there was indeed something more, but it wasn't working when we were there.

It's a subtle effect, and could be missed if you weren't aware of what to be looking for.

Between the Blackbeard effect and the skeleton island. They are in the water on both sides of the boat. You have to be intentionally looking over the end of the boat down into the water to see them.

When we were there a couple of weeks ago, one of the queue lines was completely closed off from the ride. As another stated, maybe it had to do with that refurbishment.

Thanks for the info Chris! I'll be returning to the "World" next month and will be sure to look for the mermaids in the water.

It was my understanding that they're currently installing an interactive queue - I saw some pictures on another site.

Insert manditory generic rant against interactive queues here.

Yes, that is correct. It's in conjunction with the interactive Adventureland game that's about to start up.

I rode it about 10 days ago.

Yes, the mermaid effect is pretty subtle. Not very clear either. Granted they are projecting images onto bubbles it the water, but still, if you didn't know to look for them you might either miss then or not know exactly what they were.

Yes, they had the right side of the cueue closed down and it seemed obvious they were doing the queue remodel.

Every time I ride it it just makes me miss the DL version. IMHO, much better.
