Default Xmas Parade vs. Pirate Cruise

Going down to WDW 2 weeks from today It's myself, wife, and and 5year old son. We've never been there at Christmas time so we have a dilemma....we can only do one: Pirates & Pals cruise (son loves pirates) or Mickeys Very Merry Christmas Party. We'd love to do both, but our budget will only allow us one. Which one would do? We all love Christmas, but on the same token, we think our son would love the Pirate Cruise. Thanks for your input.

Since you've never been at Christmas before I would suggest you do the MVMCP. You might as well get the full Christmas experience and the cruise will be available any time of the year. That would give you something to look forward to next time. Maybe since your son likes pirates so much you could do the Pirate's League for him. That's only around $30 and a lot of fun.

I would go to the Christmas Party and save the Pirates & Pals for another visit. We've done the pirate cruise twice (once in 36-degree weather with blankets in January) and it's a great way to get out on the water and see Wishes.
Disney does a great job with its Halloween party and we'll be going to our first Christmas party on Dec. 11. We can't wait to see the snow falling on Main Street, the Christmas parade, and the holiday fireworks. Plus, there are going to be all kinds of chances to get photos with characters and they give out free cookies and hot chocolate.
You have a tough decision to make, but I don't think you can go wrong either way.

We've decided to book the 12/9 viewing of the parade
