How about August 1st!. And not only that, but marching band camp started on July 16th, so my 11th grader had all of 6 weeks for his summer vacation. Over before it started good.

My DS's go back August 21st. They are both in high school, but I still get oh so sad when school starts each year! I love when they are home for the summer, no homework, no projects, no bedtimes - ahh the easy breezy summer life! More time for hanging out together, & way more family time! With each passing year, I'm reminded how few of these first days of school I have left with them! They'll be grown & gone before I know it & I can't even imagine those days! So yeah, mom still sheds a few tears on the first day of school every year.

Sept 4 up here. WAY too late, IMO. My kids don't do well when they are out of school so it has been a LONG summer in our house.

I'm in Eastern NC - We start on August 26th or the first weekday after then 26th should it fall on a weekend. So, my last one in high school starts August 27. He's been in band camp since July 18th and we have our 1st football game this Friday - yes folks we have 2 games BEFORE school starts.

And my DD starts her 1st year of college Monday Aug. 20th.

Our school district has always gone back the day after Labor Day. So, this year it is Sept. 4th. My DS's birthday is Sept. 3rd, so at least he gets his birthday off this year.

Drumline camp was last week. The full marching band camp is this week. So our summer has been over for a while, but the first official day of school is next Wednesday (8/22).

We got out at the end of May. I actually wish they went back earlier or got out later so we had a real fall break (a week in October). Other years, it would have been nice for a family trip. This year, with the twins being seniors, it would be nice for college visits ahead of the Nov. 1 application deadline.

If their academic and band schedules aren't too heavy - we just pulled our kids to do college visits as they are excused absences for our school district.

Good luck with the visits. We'll be starting visits with our sophomore son (last of our 4 to head off) this spring.

Ditto! Mine aren't in HS just yet, but next year one will be. I know how you feel. They start back on Sept. 6th, so I have a couple more weeks of quality and quantity time.

This quote has summed it up for me. This is my first summer working full time (I got a promotion) and it has been a killer as I didn't have my days off to spend with the kids. All I kept thinking was "how many more summers am I going to have with them? ". So now I am seriously debating going back PT

    September 4th for my girls.

This summer has gone by so fast, and we have all enjoyed every minute of it.

Ughhh...to go back to homework, projects, and enforcing bedtimes, schlepping kids all over the place.

I love summer, family time, and just having some fun!
Yeah...I usually have a good cry on Labor Day....Thankfully there is football to look forward to.
