PIN Code Question
I received a PIN code in the mail for 30% off accommodations and a seperate one for free dining. We will not be traveling during either of the dates for these promotions. My question is, are these case sensitive? In other words, I hate to throw it away if someone else can use it! Is it transferable?

I got one of those, too. Since we're DVC we probably won't use it. I don't think you can share them, though, but I'd love to know for sure.

I'm new to all this but from what I understand the PIN codes are tied to your name and are not transferrable to someone else.

The previous posters are correct. Pin codes are non-transferrable.

Thats my understanding also.
We've gotten them sent to our address with my father in laws name on it. He's lived with us for 2 yrs, so we were able to use them, even though he stayed home.

Disney will ask for the 15 digit PIN, as well as the name and address associated with the PIN. If they do not match what Disney has in their system, they will not even price the offer for you, let alone book it.

Too bad! I would have loved to make someone's day thanks for the info!

Understandable, but PINs are not give aways or prizes, they are marketing tools and in this case they are specifically marketing to you as part of the target group. They were not marketing to whomever you'd give it to. They also expect that all pins will not be used and likely don't assign enough rooms to match every pin since they know a percentage won't be used.
Also, they want the marketing info they get by seeing which are and which aren't used. That's actually very valuable to create better marketing strategies in the future. Thus, they don't want them given away.

Well, the way I see it is it's like a coupon code...those can be used by whoever is fortunate enough to obtain one. I was just figuring since its called a PIN (personal identification number, I'm assuming) that is was specific to me in some way. If it wasn't, it would just be like sharing a coupon with someone that I wasn't able to use. I see their marketing strategy and I understand what you're saying. It's just a shame it can't be given to someone able to use and appreciate it, that's all.

How do you get these pin codes? Is there somewhere to sign up for them?

There's no definite answer on that one. It's Disney's way of marketing to certain groups and for certain timeframes. If they need to fill resorts ... PIN codes are released. That's the way I understand it. Sign up on the DisneyWorld website, request a vacation planning DVD, order customized park maps, etc. These are all tips I have picked up on these boards to possibly increase my chances of getting a PIN code. I have not gotten one yet, and if I don't no biggie... BUT it sure would be great.

I don't believe they are transferable to another person, however I know from experience that you can get the dates changed. I received a 30% off accommodations one for November, however we had booked a stay for December and November was not an option. Kathy at MJ got it applied to our December stay. Not sure if I could have done it, but she did. Are you going through a travel agent, i.e. MJ?

I received a PIN code after I went to the walt disney world website and searched for prices for different packages. The PIN code card I received in the mail even stated that they knew I was inquiring about vacationing there in November because those are the dates I searched online. That's how they found me! And I'm glad they did.
