I watched! And I've been eager to hear about your experience there. How fun! I loved the corgis and the pug, but the judges were not with me. Still, I love watching.

    Default Dogs...

I turned it on and they didn't show my favorite group, the hounds. I wasn't sure what happened but I sure prefer them to the toy dogs

The Hound group opened the show. They started it off at USA network with Hounds and then switched to CNBC with the rest of the broadcast. They did it that way last year, too. I don't know why, because the viewer is left changing channels to keep with the program and some people undoubtedly miss out. Tonight, the rest of the groups (Sporting, Working, Terrier) and the Best In Show will all be on USA, I think, from 8-11 est.

I was watching too. Some gorgeous dogs. Looking forward to seeing the boxer tonight. We used to raise them!

I was surprised the Pekingese won. We have a rescued Pekingese. Now, I know all too well that dog shows aren't a beauty contest, but I so prefer my Peke in a puppy cut. The show dog cut makes them look like a tarantula. It was exciting, though!

    Red face

I watched most of it the 2 nights. I would love to go sometime. If someone who has attended could answer questions I would appreciate it.

    1. Are there activities during the day where you can interact with some of the show dogs and is there an area of booths containing pet products to buy or rescue organizations?

    2. How do people dress at night?

    3. Do people in the audience bring their pets in the stands of the arena?

    Thanks!

    1. After the last showing each day you can walk around the benching area (around 2pm) and a lot of the breeders or trainers will talk to you and you can pet the dogs. Some are there to sell -some of the dogs have their own web sites. They talk about their breeds and I am sure selling future puppies and pass out information cards.

    2. The only people I saw dressed up were a lot of the judges and some of the handlers. But I wasn't there at night. I doubt it gets fancy a lot of people in jeans and very casual clothes.

    3. I only saw one person carrying her toy dog in the stands setting areas. And I heard a couple of comments "why is her dog up here?" so I would think the dogs are not allowing up in the stands.

Are you asking about non-show pets in the stands? Dogs that aren't in the show aren't allowed in the building

I only got to see bits and pieces as I was at work but one of my patients was watching. From the little I saw, I was most impressed with the Westie and the Scottie. We used to have a Mini Schnauzer so I usually pull for them but I didn't care much for the Mini Schnauzer this year. The Standard Schnauzer was great though. In general, I prefer the small dogs but they're all beautiful.

[QUOTE=CynBeth; is there an area of booths containing pet products to buy or rescue organizations?

    Thanks![/QUOTE]

Yes there are booths for rescue and service dog organizations.

And the vendors sell items the dog show people might need like grooming items and leads and there were artists and jewelry vendors that had dog items

Purina was supplying food and giving out samples in the benching area
