Default magical express question for last minute trip

I just booked a last minute trip to WDW yesterday. We'll be there in 8 days so we won't receive our yellow tags in time for the magical express. The cast member I spoke with on the phone told me I can put yellow ribbon on my luggage instead and It should be ok.

What do you think about that?

Don't know about the yellow ribbon thing, but for our trip last year, we never received our yellow tags. It was the first time using ME and I was a bit concerned. The ME CM that I spoke to told me that as long as we were registered with ME and they had all of our flight information, etc. we would be fine. Everything worked out great and our luggage arrived just fine.

I know that probably didn't help much, but just wanted to share my "non-yellow tag" experience. Have fun! We've only got 24 days to go!

if you don't have the yellow tags, just go up to the ME counter and give them your baggage claim numbers. They will take care of it.

Here are the directions for using Magic Express without luggage tags directly from DME:

    Hope it helps!
    Wendy

Your Disney’s Magical Express reservation has been made; however, you may not receive your Disney’s Magical Express booklet with luggage tags prior to departure for Orlando. Please be assured that you will still be able to
utilize the service and receive the same seamless experience.
Once you arrive at Orlando International Airport, you have two options:
    1) You can pick up your luggage at baggage claim and proceed directly to the Disney
Welcome Center. You will be responsible for taking your luggage with you on the
    motor coach.
    2) Or you may proceed directly to the Disney Welcome Center. You do not need to claim
your luggage. Disney will gather all of your information and collect your luggage for
you and then deliver it to your resort room.
IMPORTANT: Please pack any valuables, medications or anything needed immediately upon arrival into Orlando in
    a carry-on bag.
Arrival at Orlando International Airport. Upon arrival, please take the tram from your gate to the main Terminal
and proceed to the Disney Welcome Center which is located on the B Side on Level 1 and bypass baggage claim.
If you arrive on the A Side, please proceed to the B Side before taking the elevator or escalator down to Level 1.
You may follow the airport signs to Ground Transportation.
At the Disney Welcome Center, please present your airline baggage claim checks to the Disney representative
to confirm the number of bags* checked as well as your return flight information. You will then board a
complimentary motor coach that will take you to your resort. Your motor coach may make up to 3 stops before
    arriving at your resort.
Luggage delivery to the resort. Your luggage will be claimed at the airport and delivered to your room. Your
luggage may take up to 3 hours after you check-in to be delivered. You do not need to be in your room to receive
    your luggage.

I didn't put yellow tags on our luggage when we left but a lady at the terminal (in dayton) before we boarded actually had tags that I could put on it... I forget how it worked, if we needed to put our resort and names, etc on it? I just didn't want to have them get our luggage b/c we had a baby and I wanted to keep a hold of it at that time but the rest of the people in my family took advantage of it. This at the time was for our carry on (b/c we had gone through security at this point) but they took the luggage and left it at the actual plane door and they picked it up and put it on the plane and dropped it off somehow. It was also a direct flight, though.
Next trip - Sep29-Oct4! Free QS dining at POP. First trip with both kids. (6th total visit)

Several years ago, we had our trip booked and then last minute, decided to fly instead of drive. We knew we also wouldn't have our yellow tags in time, so we just picked up our own luggage at the terminal and took them to the Magical Express counter ourselves. In fact, we have done that another time when we were arriving later in the evening and wanted to change as soon as we got to the resort. It didn't really take too much longer to grab our own luggage, and we had peace of mind that our luggage was with us.
