That's exactly what will be happening. We finally got to talk to him today. He's been unemployed for a little over 4 years and is really down on himself. He's had a few interviews, but it makes him anxious and he's been having panic attacks. He called around today and found a few people he's going to go talk too. There is some other stuff, but for him admitting the problems are there is a big step.

I'm still very worried about him, but at least we are talking.

I'm glad to hear he's going to get help. Being unemployed for that long has to really put a drain on your self confidence. I hope he recovers quickly and is able to find a job too.

Does he need retraining in another field? I understand that our unemployment offices in MA will offer classes and training for free so maybe he can find something like that in his area?

Possibly on the retraining, I wish we could get him back in school. He's the smartest person I know, but hates school. He's starting with getting someone to talk too. It's just so hard to see him struggle. Especially since he used to have such great confidence. It's also hard because unless the training is at night, they would need daycare for the kiddos. I'm just happy that we are talking about it and working on getting him help.

Thanks Melanie (and everyone!) for the continued good thoughts. We leave for FL (Reddington on the Gulf coast) on Friday, and he seems pretty excited to have some fun. He knows that he can't run away from all this, but is really looking forward to some fun time at the beach with the kids! Plus he has all of the last 2 birthday and Christmas monies on a visa gift card that my mom has been holding on to for him, so he will even have a little fun money!
