How can I ever say thank you. It looks like my DS is on the road to recovery. The last 2 blood draws shows improvement in his hemoglobin. His surgeon must be be thinking that surgery won't be needed because he was allowed to order solid food for dinner. After 2 days of clear liquids a crummy tasting quesadilla was heaven. He has to take it easy for a good long while. I have cried scared, worried tears today and tears of relief. I don't like this roller coaster. Couldn't have made it without you all.
DS came home for 2 days and starting bleeding again. We rushed back to the hospital where he will stay until Wednesday, maybe longer. I had to leave him early today because I needed to finish Christmas shopping. (Still haven't decorated the tree.) The surgeon is treating him very conservatively in hopes that he won't need to have his spleen removed. Bummer.
I'm so sorry you are having to go through this, and it really doesn't help it being Christmas time. Believe me I know, it's a challenge. Think positive, I've been told the power of positive thinking can go a long way! Sending prayers and hugs your way.

Ds is finally home! The good news is that even though he had a second bleed and his hemoglobin got down to 8.3 he stabilized within 24 hours. No spleenectomy or blood transfusions. It is a blessing.
Thank you all for your prayers and pixie dust. When I stop to think that my son was so close to death I can hardly breathe. Not sure what I would have done without your support.
