    Default Newsies! The Musical

I just read on another Disney sight that they have made a live musical of the movie Newsies. I loved that movie!!!
It is currently playing at The Paper Mill Playhouse in Millburn, New Jersey, the musical is produced with oversight from Disney Theatricals. The 1992 film cult favorite features a reworked book (which was one of the biggest weaknesses of the movie) by Harvey Fierstein, directed by Broadway veteran and Tony Nominee Jeff Calhoun, and not only six original songs from the movie (which was the strongest element in the film) but also five new songs by Alan Menken and lyrics by Jack Feldman.

I actually saw this one last weekend! It was phenomenal.

My husband is a big Newsies fan (it's more of a boy thing, isn't it?) and we already have season subscriptions to the Paper Mill Playhouse. It was a win-win situation.

It got a lot of press (most Paper Mill shows get little press outside of NJ local) and I'm hoping it got the traction it needed to get to broadway!

So jealous of your husband, I just read that it is going to be on broadway for a limited run starting in March. I have already started dropping hints to my husband, I hope i get to see this!

So I got my email to buy the pre-sale tickets to Newsies on Broadway. But before I buy my tickets I need to figure out how to get there. Does anyone have any tips on traveling to NYC? I live in central PA and have thought about taking the train, which would take about 6 hours. Not sure I want to be driving in the city.

I always dirve to to the Weehawken ferry. They have complimantary bus service to various places around the city. It's also close enough to walk to Times Square from the terminal.
