Default The Barry Bunch Day 7 9/28/11

    9/28/11
    Cast:
    Me, Trish, 38 (the planner)
DH, Shaun, 39 (goes along with the flow because it is easier than arguing with me)
DD1, Sammy, 7 (Princessy and dreamy, loves when the princesses kiss their prince… also rather energetic)
DD2, Alex, almost 5 (amazing comedic timing, silly and snuggly, however if there was 1 kid who was going to trip and fall, it is Alex)
DS1, Josh, 15 months, (aka Mr. Destructo, by the end of vacation we all called him Stitch, because he can get into that much trouble that fast!)
Back to EPCOT this day. Got some fast passes for Soarin, and went back to Test Track so Sammy could ride. Both girls love that ride. Then when trying to get on Soarin they were telling Alex she could’t go because she was not tall enough? HUH? She had been riding the 40 inch rides all week! Finally another worker came over and said she could not fit any fingers between the top of Alex’s head and the level, and so she could ride. Now I know it is all for safety, but she had been riding all week. I wish they would measure the kids on the first day of vacation, or at the park entrance, and give them a stamp or something so that they did not have to go thru being allowed on one ride and not allowed on another! But she got on! And I was again wishing that there was a play area for Josh near the FP distribution for SOARIN. We had lunch at Sunshine Seasons again. I love the variety there. Shaun had cashew chicken and I had Mongolian beef. The desserts we chose this time were a smores cupcake and some kind of apple puffy thing. They were great. I took a picture of them with my phone and sent the pic to my diet buddy at work. We have both lost 22 lbs since July. I know there won’t be any weight loss this week, and she goes to Ireland the week after I get back to work, and she knows there won’t be a weight loss then. But we have promised to get back to program as soon as we are back from vaca’s (and I have). After this we headed to some of the countries, hitting the ride in Mexico, and taking the needed pic of everyone in sombreros, and I got the “fiesta margarita” which was de-lish! The girls wanted a sip, thinking it was a smoothie.. but nope, no one was getting any of my “Mommy drink”. We also did the Maelstrom ride in Norway (first time I had ever been in a line for that one of more than 5 minutes).. We meandered through some of the other countries, the girls were not thrilled with this as there were no rides. I understand, when I was younger I hated this part of EPCOT too. Now I would like to spend more time. We had ressies in Japan at Teppan Edo the hibachi grill for dinner. We were seated pretty fast next to another family with a boy about Sam’s age, maybe a year older. Watching the two of them chatting was a scary glimpse into the future of her dating. Alex was quite put out that she was not being included in their conversation. I get that, I remember being the little sister. Sammy’s response to my asking her to include Alex was something to the effect of “We aren’t being MEAN to her, we just aren’t talking with her.” Ahhh older sisters, so mean!!! Josh was in a mood during this meal and throwing anything he could get his hands onto the floor. I believe this was when we decided that he was STITCH. After dinner we went to the rest of the countries. Sammy is in love with Paris and France, and wanted to watch the movie there, so Shaun took Sam and Alex to the movie, while Josh and I made our way to the caramel store in Germany. YUMMY and smells SO GOOD! Bought a bag of chocolate covered caramels. By this time there was a crazy lightning show in the sky behind a big puffy cloud. It was so cool. We watched some of that and thought we would try to catch Illuminations, The girls however wanted to go back to Soarin again and we still had fast passes left for it, so Shaun took them while I took Joshie into Mousegears for some shopping. While in the store he passed out asleep. It was about this time that Shaun called me saying he needed our room cards since it was now Extra Magic Hours and he couldn’t get on Soarin with the girls without showing the room cards… OK, head back out of Mousegears and meet Shaun to pass off the room cards. The fireworks for illuminations had started and I watched some of them. We had wanted to ride Test Track again, but the stand by entrance was at 50 minutes and not going down. So we decided to call it a night and walked back to the room. Shaun had promised to buy the girls a glow in the dark toy to play with so we stopped at a cart on the way home and found the smallest and least annoying of the light up toys. The girls had wanted to go swimming again. Alex asked again for popcorn and again I reminded her we would get it the lastnight during the fireworks. Alex was so tired that when we got back into the room I changed her into her bathing suit and she fell asleep on the floor wrapped in a towel. We then moved her to the bed and got her back changed into her jammies, during this she said “But I want to go swimming SNORE>>>>>” It was pretty hysterical. I brought Sammy down to the pool and we splashed some then sat in the hot tub, and back upstairs and to bed.

I agree about measuring the kids once. It is so hard to explain to them that they've "shrunk" while at Disney.

So glad you avoided the disappointment that would have come with not being able to ride an attraction that she had been approved for earlier in the week!
