Default TheBarry Bunch Day 2 9/23/11

    9/23/11
    Cast:
    Me, Trish, 38 (the planner)
DH, Shaun, 39 (goes along with the flow because it is easier than arguing with me)
DD1, Sammy, 7 (Princessy and dreamy, loves when the princesses kiss their prince… also rather energetic)
DD2, Alex, almost 5 (amazing comedic timing, silly and snuggly, however if there was 1 kid who was going to trip and fall, it is Alex)
DS1, Josh, 15 months, (aka Mr. Destructo, by the end of vacation we all called him Stitch, because he can get into that much trouble that fast!)
This morning Josh was up around 6ish. Once he is up, there is no going back down for him. We had promised the girls swimming and we were at the pool by about 8:30. The girls loved it, but were quite upset that the clown slide was not open yet. By about 10 am the lifeguards showed up and the girls were excited to try it. We had brought Alex’s life vest with us, and none for Sam, however she told us she would be more comfortable with one on going down the slide (thought that was pretty mature of her to admit.) We were able to borrow one for the whole stay from Community Hall. So up they went. Sam came down first and loved it. Alex went up the stairs with Shaun, but she is so little and light that the water actually pushed her all the way around and she came down head first and backwards. This scared her a lot, and she was not going down the slide again for the rest of the trip. No stress, she was just as happy swimming around the pool with one of us and Josh while the other took care of watching Sammy on the slide.
A while later, we dried off and changed and headed out to EPCOT. First stop was to get fast passes for Soarin, and while we were there, we had lunch at sunshine seasons. I had the grilled tuna on Asian noodles, Shaun had, some sandwich. The girls each had a chicken leg Sam liked hers, Alex, not so much. Josh ate a little off everyone’s plate. After this we did some Imagination, and some Nemo. Shaun took the girls into Turtle Talk while I stayed with Josh who had fallen asleep in the Nemo ride. After this we did Soarin. Sammy was tall enough this time, and she came on with both of us, and loved it. When Shaun rode with Sam, I took alex and Josh on the Living with the Land boat ride. When I went on the ride, Shaun stayed in the fast pass area with the kids. You know that is a GREAT place where they could add a little “play area” for the kids. So many kids were running in that area, they might as well do something with it, and keep the kids busy while Mom or Dad is waiting for the other kid to get off the ride! We h ad ADR’s for Coral Reef that night. We love it here. Love to watch the fish. Shaun had the NY strip steak and I had lobster ravioli. They were both very good. The girls had something off the kids menu, and again Josh ate whatever was available. After we traveled on Spaceship Earth, which we have to convince the girls to allow us to listen to in English. (Alex especially likes to press the buttons to listen in a different language).. Finally we went to Test Track. We thought we would measure Alex just to see if she would reach the 40 inches. SHE DID! So she went on to ride with Shaun while Josh and Sam and I waited. It seemed like the wait was really long, and Josh kept wanting to play with the trashcans. YUCK! Dirty ! Finally Shaun and Alex finished, and Sam and I went to get in line. As soon as we got there, we were told the ride was shut down b/c of lightning in the area. Well, now Sam was crying. We were tired. Time to call it a night! It was so nice to just walk back to the hotel from EPCOT to the Boardwalk. On the way there we showed them the Eiffel Tower. Sammy has a current fascination with all things related to France and Paris. We changed the kids and everyone fell into bed. At some point in the middle of the night, Alex yelled out in her sleep. “I can’t see Paris!” This became a joke throughout the week.

Lol about the "I can't see Paris! Soooo funny! Sad about the lightning and Test track closing. Isn't it great that little ones love garbage cans? Ugh.

Sounds like a great day! I'm sorry about the slide though, I think I would have be scared to be coming down head first and backwards!

Fun and busy day! Sounds like Sammy is enjoying her "big girl" status on the rides!

I just totally LOL at the "I can't see Paris". My dd often screams out weird one-liners in the middle of the night after a particularly stressful/eventful day.

What a great idea to go swimming in the a.m. hours when everyone is fresh and energized!

Your dinner at Coral Reef sounds great - it's on my bucket list for our next trip. I'm with Sam - I cry when TestTrack goes down, too. And that happens frequently! What a crackup about Alex and Paris.
