Default Segway Central - No more demos

I was at Epcot today. I noticed they weren't running any demos like I rode on this past Thursday. I asked the CM what was going on and I was told they were no longer giving out the demos. I asked if she had any idea what was replacing it and she told me she believed they were just going to use it for the launching spot for the Segway tours and it will sit unused the rest of the time. Seems like a waste of space.

I was told that yesterday was the last day for the demos and I could see that everything had been removed from the area other than the storage dome.

Too bad. There is a lot of empty space currently in the Innoventions and with the economy I would not think companies are lining up to sponsor new attractions.

Sounds like the OP is saying there are no more demos or trial rides, which they offered in Innoventions. I don't think the tours have been affected/discontinued.

Sounds like another cost cutting measure to me.

Yes, the tours are still on, but no more demos or "free rides" as the CM called it.

So it wil be used in the morning for the tours before the park opens but once the park opens it will sit unused all day. That's a large piece of Innoventions sitting unused during park hours.

Why or maybe by whom? Remember, Segway is an independent company. Not everything is a Disney decision.

It is an awesome tour. I have done it twice and really enjoyed it both times. Make sure you take your camera.

This makes me sad I was just telling my boyfriend about the free demos, and we were excited to go on them on our trip In January. Hope it is replaced with something equally as fun! : PLEASE be hover-boards! :

Isn't it manned by Disney CM's?

The Innovention cast members were doing the instructions for that Segway exhibit. Considering how stressed they always seemed - I'm guessing they will be happier. The line for this experience was right beside the line for the Visa Meet and Greet, as well as video games -- so I have stood watching the harried cast members countless times. The CMs spent more time explaining to people the conditions of the experience - and having people become angry / indignant - than they did explaining how to use the Segway. Riders had to sign a legal waiver, be within a certain weight range, as well as be age 16 or older. Riders age 16 or 17 needed their legal guardian present to sign a waiver. No person underage could be within the fenced area. CMs had to send so many people away. I always thought it must be terribly draining to work in that specific area - as the majority of the people who got in line, had to be turned away . . . .

Boo Hoo! Last trip I was Pooh Sized and was unable to ride the Segway. Now I am more Tigger Sized and was looking forward to trying the Segway, and now the free trial is gone. Not Happy.
