Souvenirs at walmart?
First off Mod's please move this to where it needs to go it could really kind of go in several.
I had some family that just returned from a trip to the world and mentioned that there was a walmart there that was near disney world that has really good souvenirs for cheap. Like same stuff that's in the park.
I'm having a hard time thinking that disney world would send their current stuff to walmart to be sold for cheaper, so I was wondering if someone could
1) tell me if this is true
2) where is the walmart located.
Thanks.

I would recommend going to the Disney Character Premiere store at the Orlando Premium Outlet across I-4 from Downtown Disney. Often you can get great stuff there for a lot cheaper than in the parks. We've gotten Mickey logo golf shirts, nightgowns, $80 princess dresses for little girls for only $20, pins for $2 or $3, you name it. And it's official park stuff.
There's another one up I-4 a little bit at the International Drive exit as well. We usually hit one of these on the way into town.

The Walmart also has Autograph books. This is really nice when you have 3 kids who want 3 different books. They are not as sturdy as the ones at Disney but they have more choices.

We did a Walmart run last June to pick up some things for our room and I did notice some Disney Stuff being showcased towards the front of the store. It looked more like generic Disney merchandise not really the stuff you buy at the parks. The did have general Florida souvenirs but I don't remember anything from the parks at all.

Walmart carries official Disney items. Many are the same ones that you get in other states - just clustered together. Other items say "Florida" on them - along with Mickey (or other Disney characters.) While some items show a castle, as well -- the items are not technically from "Walt Disney World." For many people - official Mickey with the word Florida is perfect.
Walmart has many items which we buy -- but you do need to realize they are "Disney" items not "Disney World." This means - the water sprayers won't get filled with ice for you. Some of the items are really nice (and they have been carrying the yellow Mickey ponchos, similar to the old WDW ones.)

Several WalMarts near Disney.
One is on Turkey Lake Dr. about 3 or 4 miles sort of northeast from Downtown Disney and about a mile south of Sand Lake and the other is on 192 East, about 5 or 6 miles from Int. 4.
There is also another one on John Young Parkway and Sand Lake intersection, but that's a pretty good hike (Int 4 to 528 then 528 to JYP and then about 3 miles south on JYP from 528) from the parks areas.
Tees are different than what is sold in the parks although I have several that I like better.

We've had good luck in the past picking up souvenirs at Walgreen's. Especially stuffed animals like Mickey, Donald, Goofy, and Pluto.

There are many shops off the property that sells things you can find in the park for cheaper. I recommend checking a few out--lots of times while I'm there, they're also having a sale on SOMETHING.
