Such a great ending! More than happy that the movie stayed fairly true to the book. I never pay to see a movie in theater twice, but I plan to go again next weekend for this one! I just can't wait til the dvd comes out.

Overall I'm very happy. I think the movie hit a lot of the right marks and I understand that movies are ADAPTATIONS of the books and things have to be changed/left out. That being said... I think the final battle was very underwhelming for people who read the book, and probably pretty confusing for people who hadn't. I'll leave it at that for now.

I'm headed to see it this afternoon, but I came across this article from Entertainment Weekly:
'Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Part 2' conjures up a record-breaking $43.5 million at midnight showings
by Grady Smith
Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows — Part 2 grossed a huge $43.5 million last night during midnight showings in 3,800 locations, shattering the midnight box office record previously held by The Twilight Saga: Eclipse, which earned just over $30 million from midnight shows in 2010.
The final picture in the magical franchise topped all other Harry Potter movies’ midnight grosses. Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows — Part 1 earned $24 million at midnight last year, while Half-Blood Prince pulled in $22.2 million. Part 2 also more-than-tripled the $12 million that Order of the Phoenix earned at midnight, and earned almost seven times as much as Goblet of Fire, which grossed $6.3 million at midnight.
Harry Potter: Get the latest news, photos, and more
Perhaps most notably, Deathly Hallows — Part 2‘s $43.5 million midnight figure trounces The Dark Knight‘s $18.5 million midnight grosses. As you probably know, the Batman flick currently holds the record for the highest opening weekend with $158 million, and if there’s any movie that’s going to be able to steal that title, it’s Deathly Hallows — Part 2. My colleague John Young doesn’t think Harry Potter will be able to reach those heights, but its strong midnight debut certainly makes that possibility a whole lot more likely!

I saw the movie at midnight, and all I can say is AMAZING!!! I absolutely loved it, and was bawling at several scenes. I saw part 1 3 or 4 times (can't remember which ), and I'll definitely be seeing part 2 at least that many times.

I saw it this afternoon and absolutely loved it. I, too, think there could have been more fighting with the final battle, or at least shown some of the characters being killed to add more emphasis, but I understand why they did what they did. I think overall they did a great job of balancing the action with the emotional/character side of it. I found myself teary eyed at several spots in the movie, even though I knew the ending! I need to go back and read the book this week so I can see it in the theater again next weekend!

I loved the movie also, I thought the 2 + hours went extremely fast. It was non stop action the entire movie right from the opening scene. I don't know about anyone else but I would have sat through a 3 hour movie to have them dive deeper into the Albus and Aberforth story and show the scene between the Carrows and Harry in Ravenclaw tower it was a pretty cool interaction in the book. All in all I loved the movie, but I always find my self saying I wish it was longer. I am probably in the minority of people who would sit ina 3 hour movie....

OH, another great part of our theater. We were told we'd be in theater 9 for the 2nd movie (had to move from across the hall after the first movie). When we got their, the sign had been covered with "Theater 9 3/4."
It's funny how it's the little things that make your night. LOL

FINALLY saw the movie Saturday afternoon, at our first opportunity!
It was very good, although as others have mentioned there were some things from the book that were left out. That's happened in all the movies, and they weren't things that were central to the plot. The friends we went with hadn't read the book, and were confused by some things, but still enjoyed it. I was very glad they included the epilogue!
I'd love to think that there will be more, and I like the idea of going back to the pre-Harry characters better than following the kids.
BTW, Niecyboo, I LOVE the Theater 9 3/4!

Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows pulled in an estimated $168 million for opening weekend, breaking the record set my The Dark Knight at $158 million... One word: WOW!!!!!

I saw it this past weekend and loved it! I agree that it went by really fast from the minute it started.

I completely agree. I understand that they can't put everything from the books into the movies, but it seems like there was so much left out of this movie, and a lot of it was stuff that was a big part of the story line. Especially Dumbledore's backstory with his family and Grindewauld, etc. I saw the movie with my Dbf, who hasn't read any of the books, and there were some parts where he was confused and didn't really know what it was all about. I guess they make the movies thinking that everyone who sees them has read the books?
In any case, I loved the movie! I agree with the PP that one of the best scenes was when Mrs. Weasly started fighting! And there were lots of parts when I teared up, even over Snape! I'm sad that the books and movies are all done now. Guess I'll just keep re-reading the books and re-watching the DVDs!

I think this might be my favorite movie, but the thing that really bothered me was this:
The final confrontation between Harry and Voldemort. They added an epic flying, multi-scene battle, which I wouldn't have minded, but they cut the dialogue! Harry's speech in the book about how Voldemort could never understand love and the dialogue they have back and forth, where Harry exposes that Snape was never loyal to him, and that the wand was not rightfully his. He embarrasses him in front of a hall full of people. Then Voldemort tries to Aveda Kedavra Harry, while Harry sticks with good old expelliarmus, and Voldemort's cures backfires once again and his curse kills himself. In the movie, unless I missed something because it was after 2am, they don't say anything! Voldy's wand just all the sudden flies out of his hand and he disintegrates! And no one is there to witness...
That was my one major gripe. I think that whole exchange summed up the entire point of the books. Other than that I think it was a magnificent movie.

Yep, you're exactly right! They left out that whole exchange between Harry and Voldemort and I think it left out too much important information for people who haven't read the books. I didn't understand why they didn't at least have them say their spells out loud - Voldemort saying Avada Kedavra and Harry saying Expelliarmus - to show that even at the very end, Harry stuck with his "signature move" instead of using a killing curse. I didn't really get that whole "pull Voldemort off the top of Hogwarts and fly around while they claw at each other's faces" thing. It made no sense and they left so much important dialogue out!

You took the words right out of my mouth. I love, love, loved the movie, as did my kids, but I was so disappointed about that scene! Can't quite understand why they did that.
