There is one near us that is open on the weekends... We have to usually pay around 50-60.00 for a night at the movie theater but at the drive-in they always shows 2 new releases for 12.00 a car load... The picture quality is good and they still have the speakers that you pull into your vehicle... We always go early and park up front so we can sit with the back of our van facing the screen and lay a blanket out for the kids... It's a lot of fun!!!

This drive in was around since I was a very younf child and all through my teenage years. We went all of the time. I remember my parents taking us there to see the "Jungle Book", "Herbie" and "Planet of the Apes". When I was older we saw "Ghostbusters" and "Fast Times at Ridgemont High". It had closed down for maybe 10 years or more and then reopened a few years back. We haven't been there since it reopened but from what I have been hearing it's nice. I know that they play movies that are in the theaters now. In fact you get to watch 3 current movies for one price.

Later, when my husband and I were dating, we'd go to the drive-in frequently. We were poor and it was cheap! There was one drive-in that would frequently show scary movies - and, yes, we saw Jaws at the drive-in! I think the other novie that night was The Exorcist!!

Even after our daughter was born, there were still drive-ins around and I remember going with her a few times. As she got older, there were fewer and fewer and no more opportunities to go.

What part of Massachusetts do you live in? There is one in Mendon that just opened for the season this weekend. It's $20 a carload for 2 movies. The snack bar is very reasonable in price and you can bring in anything you want. We go a few times a year.

We have one here in Springfield, IL, Route 66 Drive In I think, new releases. I can also remember going to the Belford in Rockford, IL growing up. Where that used to be is now one of those huge 16 screen theaters.

I love the Drive-In Theaters and grew up going to them. When I was younger we had one where we lived (Franklin, WV) that we went to almost every weekend. It is still there and we go a few times every summer even though it is about an hour drive for us now from Harrisonburg, VA. One of my best sleep-overs growing up was the summer after I turned 16. I took my 4 best friends and my little sister and we went to the drive-in. It was their first experience at the drive-in. That one has a concession stand that we always go to for drinks, burgers, fries, and popcorn. Even with all the food it is cheaper than the regular theater and you can't beat the atmosphere. I found out that there is one about half an hour from Morgantown that shows a double feature every weekend in the summer and I can't wait to try it out!

I live about 10 mins from the Delsea Drive In. We go 6-7 times a year. We've seen TS3, Up, Cars , the last 3 Harry Potter movies and the last 2 POTC movies there on opening night.

If you get a chance, take the family and go. It is a fun and cheap night out. Admission is cheap and the food is well priced too, only problem is the lines at the concession stand.
On nice nights, you grab a chair, sit outside and watch movies under the stars.

we still have 3 in our area..or at least no more than an hour away. We love it....take our kids at least once very summer...back of the pick up...under the stars or with the camper top on...sleeping bags and lounge chair cushions...and plenty of brought from home good food...but of course we gotta buy the popcorn!

We have one drive-in that offer 3 screens...6 movies a night...and if you park at the right spot, everyone can watch a different movie.

There's one about 15 minutes away from me. I absolutely love going to it. They have two screens, each showing 2 movies. We don't go that much. We'll only go if we want to see both movies. I don't remeber what the first movies I saw were. The price is great. I don't know if it went up this year, but last year it was $7.50 a person (lower price for kids, but I don't remember what it is). They let you bring your own food.
Ahhh. Now I want to go home and go see a movie

I grew up in Midland, MI (only a couple of hours from the Cherry Bowl!). We had a drive-in theater, but I assume it's closed now (I moved away nearly 30 years ago, egad!).

On Sunday mornings in the summer, a local church held drive-in services there - the congregation pulled in, put the speakers in the car windows, and the service was piped in!

During the summers, the young singers in town rotated between the churches, since the choirs didn't meet in the summertime. I will never forget standing in front of a microphone on the roof of the concession booth, singing my 16 year old heart out, and looking out at the cars. The only faces I saw were on the seagulls eating all the spilled popcorn in the lot.

We used to have a drive-in in my town of Wayne....oh so long ago. I saw Grease there!!!

There is one in Warwick, NY about an hour from me, and I do see on occasion from my Facebook Peeps, that people still go, as they will post something about it.

I have two Clearview Cinema's close to my home, that are owned by cablevision, and if you are a "triple play" customer, you can get 2 free tickets on Tuesday night for any movie, and any other time it's $5 for kids and $7 an adult. That's about the extent of my movies. Cheap and easy!

There is one just a few miles from me.We go there a lot in the summer. They always have a double feature and sometimes even a triple so it's a pretty good value. This weekend they a have On Stranger Tides as the middle show of a triple feature!

I posted this back in April...

Shankweiler's, about the oldest in the US, is on 309, just a few miles north of I-78 and 22. (Near Lehigh Carbon Community College). They were still open last year, when I was at LCCC for a client. According to my slightly older sister, they are open for the season now. She lives in Bethlehem, and takes grandkids there. Still a great place for families!

We had one near us (only about an hour from Midland, MI) until just 2-3 years ago. It was great to take my kids to experience this, but my husband could never seem to make it through both features. LOL. We saw Madagascar, Lilo and Stich and the horrible Scooby Doo live-action film there, along with a few I can't remember. The hardest part was the first movie didn't start until dusk, so we usually would get home around 2 AM.

Then NCG Cinemas built a new theater south of Flint, which is very nice, but almost all the theaters in Flint closed because they couldn't compete. Just today NCG re-opened one of the older theaters as a low-priced option, so I'm hoping that they buy the drive-in and re-open that next!

We were there this past weekend to see Pirates 4.
My only complaint is the wait at the concession stand. Depending on crowds, we sometimes bring food to avoid the wait.

We just moved to MD (haven't changed Intercot profile yet) and know about Bengies. We plan to take the boys when they're older (in about 4-5 years).

We're also only 20 minutes from the Delaware Memorial Bridge, so the drive-in in NJ isn't too far from us either.

We vacationed in Cape Cod last year (just before Hurricane Earl showed up) and we stayed directly across the road from the drive-in in Wellfleet, MA. We didn't actually make it over there to see anything since we had DS3 in tow.

The only drive-in that I've been to since childhood (or possibly at all) was five years ago in Alexandria Bay, NY in the Thousand Island region. 'Invinvicle' was playing that night. Since DH is a Giants fan, he was a little annoyed when I chanted E-A-G-L-E-S EAGLES! at that part in the movie. I'm not sure of the other movie, but it might have been POTC3.

I'm about 10 mins away but have never went.
I heard you tune in a radio station to pick up the audio. Is this true? That's one of the reasons I haven't gone because just one movie alone would drain the car battery.
