Magical Express and Carry on Luggage
We've taken Magical Express many times, but for some reason, I'm having a bit of "brain melt" (or freeze, as the case may be here in Minnesota). Do you take your carry on luggage on board the bus with you, or do you drop it in the 'belly of the bus'? They are not terribly large, just duffel bags (bigger than purses and laptop cases though!).
What do you do?
Karen
"It's snowing still," said Eeyore gloomily.
"So it is."
"And freezing."
"Is it?"
"Yes," said Eeyore. "However," he said, brightening up a little, "we haven't had an earthquake lately."

I would personally put it under the bus as there is not much leg room in these busses. We kept our laptop & case with us and that was not a problem with room. If the bus is not full you could put the carry on in the seat near you.

We carried our carry on cases to the ME bus. If the bus is crowded and you can't hold the case in your lap or place on the seat next to you there is storage above the seats - similar to an airplane, but they do no have doors that close.
-
They are put in the belly of the bus. However, if your duffle is small enough you could take it on board.
-
if your bag is small enough, you can place it under your own seat (NOT under the seat in front of you like on an airplane). The overhead shelf is pretty close to the ceiling and thus doesn't hold a whole lot.
Even if there's room, the driver will (or should) discourage you from placing bags on the seat beside you, as that can be dangerous in case of an accident or sudden stop.

I've taken my carry on bag with me on the bus (it was small enough) and put it on the seat next to me

This last trip we put our in the belly. It was too crowded on the bus and the asiles are sooo small. I don't think my case would even fit. It was the same going back too.

claim tickets?
Do they do a claim ticket for the bags they put underneath the bus? I have a camera bag that I suspect will not fit in the overhead bin on the bus. It will be me and 10 y-o and 4 y-o kids. I suppose the 10 y-o could put it between her feet and or I could put it under the 4 y-o's feet.
I just hope that if I put it underneath the bus, that it won't be picked up by someone who IS NOT ME.

They do not provide a claim check. I always keep a careful watch on which bags are being pulled out at which stops to ensure that my bag is not pulled out at the wrong location.

This will be my 2nd time ever to use DME so, I don't remember exactly. Previous experience was in 2006, I think.
sheesh, I'm getting old...
Do you know the stop order? We are staying at Pop Century. It seems like it was one of the first stops.

There is no pre-assigned stop order. The stop order will be up to the bus driver.

They used to not bother you about bringing anything on board the bus with you. We used to bring our small floded up stroller with us and I'd hold it in our seat area with one of the kids...
Now, they make you store larger items under the bus and they will no longer allow you to bring strollers on. In fact, I was spoken to rather rudely the firs ttime I was told I had to put it underneath the bus. We just do not want to stand around waiting for the bus driver to pull out our stuff, which somehow always seems to be the last of it.
Also, I would not put a camera bag under there...everything shifts and when it is loaded, if you have a full stop you could have things smashing it or rolling on top of it. Take it on the bus with you!
