I belive the carts seat 4. Many people enjoy having them but we've never found it necessary and never rented one.

You can park a golf cart at Pioneer Hall but you can't park your car there. I don't know if there still are but there used to be a couple of car spots at the Meadows Trading Post so you could run in a pick up a few things but there is no parking lot so you can't leave your car there either but can go over on a golf cart.

It's also possible to rent golf carts from external sites which, I understand, are less expensive than renting directly from Disney.

    Default Cars and Carts

My understanding is FW guests are not permitted to use their cars inside FW. You park at your cabin when you arrive but you're not supposed to "drive around" and park elsewhere at FW.

What are the rules regarding this? If I have my car at a cabin can get in it and drive to AK then DTD then back to my cabin for the night?

This is why the traffic at the fort has become out of control. everybody drives inside the loops. the rules are that you are not suppose to drive around the fort. years ago there was very few vehicles running around the roads, now traffic has become outrageous. even the amount of vehicles at the campsites is out of control. on our last visit there were campsites that had 2 vehicles parked at them. there were even vehicles parked in the center island. you could not even get around a loop with your trailer or motorhome without needing to ask someone to move their vehicle. the rules anymore at the fort are just plain disregarded.

For sure, you can use your car to travel from Fort Wilderness to any of the parks or to external sites you wish to visit. I think they just don't want you joyriding around inside the campground.
