    Talking 9 days...

We are leaving in 9 days. I have no idea what to pack. We are coming down from Pittsburgh. Driving, because my husband does not like to fly. Never been to the world this time of year. I hate not knowing what to pack. Suggestions welcome.

    Hi there!
What I would do is go to the weather channel and type in orlando florida and they will give you the ten day forcast. Then you can plan accordingly. Have fun! My journey begins in 37 days.

We'll also be arriving on 12/10! I'm mailing a box down tonight with the stuff for the kids - diapers, wipes, munchies and the like. Apparently it'll be around 80 when we're there! I'm not sure I have any shorts that fit since giving birth a couple of months ago! We're coming from Michigan so it'll be a big weather change for us also. Any specific questions? DH and I have been many, many times, but this will be our first time with the kids.

    Hard to tell...

Pittsburgh cold and Buena Vista cold are two different things. I am comfortable in shorts and sweatshirt to about 40 degrees. I lived in south FL most of my life. It really depends on what you think is cold and which FL weather shows up. You could have two complete extremes during the same trip at this point.

It does look like low - mid 70s during the day and 50 at night. But, that is completely speculative. Accuracy outside 7 days is difficult.

Info Central has its very own "what to pack" list which you can find here.

Also, as mentioned above, checking the weather in December is extremely important as December weather is quite variable. However, I don't ever recommend looking at the Weather Channel's website because it's completely automated. No human interacts with it. It used 1 model and plugs in the output. So, use the weather forecast thread stickied at the top of this forum, check out the local TV station websites for their weather forecasts, or check the National Weather Service. With any of those options you have a human looking at things at that is extremely important in December.

I live in Bethel Park also can I hitch a ride with you? Seriously, my DH and I were at WDW last Dec and found the weather tricky. We packed a couple of pairs of shorts but mostly wore jeans. The highs were in the 70's but at night sometimes it felt a little cool and needed a jacket or hoodie. Make sure you have poncho's with you. We lucked out with one day of rain all week but the extended forcast looks like it may be rainer this year but I hope not for your sake. Have a great time and be sure to post your trip report. I get my WDW fix that way.

We're leaving in 15 days from Pittsburgh too! I've been in december and can highly recommend that you bring a bunch of different types of clothing. My theory when traveling to WDW at any time between the end of Oct and mid-April is to bring clothes you can layer. For me, that's tank tops & t's, long-sleeve t-shirts, a couple thin sweaters, a heavy sweater or two, and one or two casual blazer type jackets. For outerwear: I bring a lightweight rain jacket, a winter vest, and usually a winter coat, gloves and scarf. (Obviously, the closer to Dec & Jan, the more wintery items are necessary - i.e. you don't need a winter coat in October).

I know that it can average mid-70s in Dec, but BOTH times I was there in december (98 and 03) I was grateful that I forgot to leave my winter coat behind in Pittsburgh. Remember early mornings are still chilly and it still gets dark early in Florida, just like up here in Pittsburgh - no sun = cooler temps.

I bring jeans, no shorts. However, I only bring shorts in the summer, when it's absolutely necessary, b/c I HATE wearing them. The rest of the time it's jeans and capris.

My motto - plan for all types of weather and you won't find yourself buying out the store in Canada (Epcot) like we did in '98!

We are now down to 7 days! Thanks for all of your tips. I'll be checking out the local news sites in Orlando to better guage the weather. I consider anything higher than 32 to be warm!

I'm with you it finally got below freezing here today in Iowa and just saw some snow out the window and for us up here if it's above 50 degrees it's shorts weather. So 70's during the day and 50's at night is perfect and we just take light jackets. We've been several times this time of year and have only had 1 year where it was "cold" for us and was actually warmer back home.
