Does anyone know about how many pennies the books hold? Will one book be enough for a trip?
off the top of my head I'm not sure but I do know it holds quite a bit. It also has spots for quarter's as well. Unless you plan on trying to hit almost everyone one book should be fine

I think they hold about 60. I have filled up one book and some extra on one trip each time. You might want to get two if you plan to search seriously for them all.

I'm sure this tip has been given by someone before, but I didn't see it yet for this thread so here it goes.
Get a some of the containers of the mini m&m's....the tube ones. They are perfect quarter size. So you can layers 2 quarters and a penny until you get to the top. When you find a machine you just have to pull out that tube and pop out the first 3 coins. We did this this past summer and it was so much nicer than using rolls or searching pockets.
That's a really good idea. It would be a lot more convenient than carrying the rolls and fussing with it providing the tube fits in my bag. DH even took pictures of me using the penny machines because I was doing so many of them.

I bought a sturdy change purse just for doing pressed pennies. It is a traditional leather change purse with two compartments for the quarters and pennies. There is a small pocket on the outside where I put the pressed pennies. It made things a lot easier and it held a lot of coins. I just went to DLR this August and filled a book in no time! LOL

Aug 2009 - DLR, WDW & the Disney Wonder - once in a lifetime trip!
I started this on my last trip and never looked back. Bad trip, different story. Now that we booked a new trip for March 2010, I pulled out the pressed penny collection and printed of the new master list.
I did almost 100 pressed pennies and quarters on my last trip. I know I will be making a plan for the next trip to maximize my opportunities. I did a lot of walking and searching while my daughter slept in the stroller.
My strategy and collection:
1. I choose to only use uncirculated 1971 pennies and quarters. WDW first opened then, it was my first trip, and I was 1.
2. It was trial and error to determine how to get them to print on the tails side. However, the press machines I used pressed through the heads side. You cannot see the dates on most of the coins
3. I will start my $10 roll of quarters per week now to have enough quarters for the trip. It is not necessary, but it keeps you from having to go to a cashier in the parks.
4. The night before a park, I will map out where all the coin machines are so I do not have to run around.
5. It can be addicting and fun. My daughter was 2 the last trip and she had to do it any time she saw a machine. I had to start to prove to her we already did those.
6. I hope to be able to drop her a complete collection when she is old enough. My plan is to give it to her on her 15th birthday when we spend many nights there in 2021.
