What should we do???
Background:
We currently have a trip scheduled November 29th - December 5th using a 40% off pin code that we received. The company that I work work for is now requiring us to use 70% of our vacation by the end of September, which means that I only have 6 days to cover the last 3 months. We normally only vacation in the months of October - December, because we like the cooler months. I currently have 8 days of vacation planned for these 3 months and I was trying to set back a few extra days in case the plant did a shutdown during the last 2 weeks of this year. They did this last year which would account for about 6 days. The company is just trying to catch people without any paid days and look favorable their last quarter. I don't know, maybe a lot of companies are starting to do this now?? I should also add we went last year in December.
Help us decide what to do:
I hate to say this, but this all could be a sign to cancel this trip (financially, work, etc). We do not go to WDW on a regular basis as you can see from my signature, but it would be so much FUN.
What to do?
1. Should we move up our Disney trip towards the end of September?
2. Should we dump our Disney trip (5 days)?
3. Should we dump our October camping trip (3 days)?
4. Should we leave the Disney trip as is, move up the October trip, & possibly have unpaid days?
5. Something different?
Feel free to post any comments or suggestions.
Thanks --- Kevin

I voted for moving your trip up, but if you do this you may not be able to use your 40% discount, so it would not only move your vacation to a date you didn't want, it may also cost you more to do it. I think I'd check availability then decide...although unpaid days are never nice.

Somethinng to consider, if you move up your WDW trip to Sept, you can get "free" dining but you will not be able to use your pin code.
Maybe that will help?

Another vote for moving up the trip to September. Yes, you are saving 40% in December, but a free dining plan would make up for some of that, maybe working out to be a 25-30% discount, depending on your room type, plus you will use up your vacation days. I am not a fan of having unused vacation days at the end of the year. You've earned them, and you probably need them, so you should take them. The upside of moving your trip to September is that you will be at WDW that much sooner.

I guess I am the odd ball out. I would keep your Disney trip and cancel the camping trip. We would love to get a 40% off pin code so keeping the code and going on the trip would be our priority.

I was going to vote for skipping the camping trip but I changed my mind. You didn't say what resort you were planning on staying at. Since I see moderates in your sig, I'll assume that.
Even though I hate the heat/humidity and possibility of September hurricanes, I am going to vote to move it to the end of September.
1)You will then be able to get free dining. This is my favorite incentive. I would be bringing PBJs to the parks each day if I had to pay for food.
2)If you were planning on staying at a moderate resort, I would drop it down to a value resort. That would bring the total cost down by a few hundred and might come close to matching your discount.
With this in mind, moving it to Sept sounds like a much better deal.

I say move up the trip to Sept. We go in mid to late Sept and the weather (though it can be warm) is always pleasant and on a warmer day, Water Parks are calling. If you have the $, then don't give up in the Disney vacation, especially if you have been planning it already, that would just hurt!
Go, have fun and enjoy your time in the magic.

My vote would be to move it to the end of September. Get the free dining plan and see MNSSHP. Maybe take a trip to Universal for HHN.

We usually stay at deluxes, but this time we are staying at CBR.

I agree, this would be a major drawback, cause we don't like the hot weather. But, on the other hand, we could try the waterparks, which we have never done.

This would be nice, but we traditionally never do TS, just CS. Along with this we bring or have groceries delivered. On our last trip we saved a bunch by doing the "PB&J" thing.
