    Question Birthday Surprises

    Hi,
We will be travelling to WDW in May for DD's 18th b-day. I'm looking for anything special we could do to celebrate or surprise her while we're there. This could include anything in the parks, resorts, or a special dining adventure. I could use any and all ideas.

For an 18-year-old girl, I would recommend one or more of:

    1) Afternoon Tea at the Grand Floridian
    2) Dinner at Bistro de Paris (Epcot, France, upstairs)
    3) A Mickey/Minnie basket from Disney Florist.

When I went to Disney when I was 17 and 18, I really loved backstage tours. I felt like I had an "in" and loved seeing how everything worked (as did my friends).

Also, I think the Grand Floridian idea the Rusty Scupper mentioned is a good one.

Finally, at 18, I LOVED going to PI, which is unfortunately no more. But, a special dinner at Wolfgang Puck's (upstairs or down) and then some shopping could be great too .

My daughter loves the spa at the GF (manicure & pedicure). You could do that followed by tea at the GF, if you're "girls only".

Does she have a specific interest? We treated our oldest daughter to the Aqua tour at Epcot and she loved it. That's the one where you can swim in the Living Sea's exhibition. The behind the scenes tour at AKL is pretty amazing if she enjoys animals.

A fireworks cruise is great if she's in love with Wishes or Illuminations. You can even arrange to have food on board by going through the resorts private dining department. The GF has an especially nice bakery, they can create a custom birthday cake to have on board.

Special dinners are nice. You can't beat the view from the California Grill in the Contemporary resort. I think they still offer the lunch with a Disney imagineer, if she's interested in drawing or anything along those lines.

There are just so many choices, but based on what she's passionate about, I'm sure you'll be able to find the perfect way to celebrate.

The Segway tour at Epcot around the World Showcase was really fun.
