I've never seen more than a standard cut and pixie dust type experience at the Barber Shop. I honestly can't think that they are equipped for dying etc. It is really like an old time Barber Shop as opposed to a modern salon. I don't know for sure though....

There are only two chairs and like said before, it's pretty much the trim and such. Our DD had hers cut there in December, we got lucky and only had to wait about 10 / 15 minutes, but when we left there were several families waiting, so I'd try to go early, if possible.....
My kids are more interested in getting their hair dyed "glow in the dark" or a color (which was advertised on a Disney site. Do they still do this? The ad said it costs $5, but that sounds too cheap! Anyone do this?

Kids got #3 buzz cuts this summer. I think I might have seen some sort of gel that was colored that they could put in your hair when they are done vs. Mickey glitter. I think the only thing that they do is the standard cut w/ clippers.
I have received a haircut there on almost every trip I have been on. I haven't been in a few years, but as of then they only did a standard cut. Definitely something worth doing and as stated before I would try to be the first one in the shop. It gets very crowded!

Yes, most likely the reference was to the colored gels. They're usually used to paint a Mickey in your hair, create colored spikes, etc.
The gel washes out easily in water, so it can get a bit messy if you go swimming or get caught in the rain.
AFAIK, it is included in the price of the haircut. I don't know whether or how much they would charge for the gel only. If some members of the family are getting cuts, they might offer to gel the rest for free.
When I was at MNSSHP a couple years ago, I went into Harmony Barber Shop and had them put orange gel (and Mickey glitter) in my hair. I don't remember the exact price, but I'm pretty certain it was under $10.
I went at about 4 p.m. and was able to have it done without waiting. Of course, your mileage may vary.
