The Wilderness Lodge and Animal Kingdom Lodge are great resorts, but they fall a little between moderate and deluxe to me. They're great choices for less money than most of the deluxes, with a slightly off the path location. So, I guess they could redefine the moderate category and add them in, but they still seem to offer slightly more than the other moderates and I seriously doubt the prices will change to fall in line with the other moderates. I would put them in a category of their own, between deluxe and moderate.

Fort Wilderness Cabins are going to be placed in the Moderate Category. I am sure the cabins will not be lowered to the same rate as the other moderates. You see different rates displayed under the Deluxe resort category.

Although both AK and WL are both a bit off the beaten path, I would have to politely disagree that they are inbetween a deluxe and a moderate. The level of detail that has gone into both of the resorts (the expansive lobbies, the stream at WL, and the savannah at AK) is far and beyond what you can find at a moderate and IMHO is just as nice as the Poly.
In addition, the level of the dining options at both WL and AK are also in a better class than most of the moderates.
As far as the OP's original question, I doubt that the WL or AK becoming moderates is nothing more than wishful thinking on someone's part - I would definetly love to see those resorts at mod pricesas the WL is DW and my favorite!!
It is my dream to one day pilot the monorails around the Seven Seas Lagoon....where's my star!!!

It is the Fort Wilderness Cabins! At disneyworld.com, they are already in the moderate category. They have not been reduced in price. They are just under that category. Another site says the cabins will be lowered in price in the coming weeks. We will wait and see!

I agree, except for the room size and for the location. These two issues keep them from competing in price with the other deluxes. Larger rooms and location are two things I am willing to pay for that the WL and AKL, as lovely as they are and as impressive with theming and restaurants, just don't offer. The price reflects what they are lacking, and is why they fall somewhere between moderate and deluxe to me.

1) Per Disney, WL and AKL are "1st Class Resorts".
2) They are between Moderate and Deluxe classifications.
3) This is taught in CM resort classes.

The room size and location of both are fine for me and my family.

As noted above, The Fort Wilderness Cabins have been repositioned to the Moderate Category, not the Wilderness Lodge resort.
To prevent any further confusion, I;m going to close this thread and direct all further discussion to the ongoing thread in the Accommodations forum.
The Wilderness Cabins are Now Moderates?
Thank you,
