Massive Fire Raging @ Universal City, CA

Universal Studios Hollywood is on fire I just turned on Foxnews and they are showing images of the Soundstage area burning part of the area on the famous backstage tour is being affected. They are also worried about the Film Vaults.

Yeah I've been watching this on the news too. MSNBC has been reporting that the film vault is on fire.

So sad...

They also reporting the King Kong area of the Backlot tour has been damaged and some areas are a total loss.

A Fire official confirmed New York Street, New England Street, Brown Stone Street and King Kong are total losses.

The Park is open today at 9AM minus the backlot tour.

Fox is saying that the park is open just the backlot tour is closed... wow dont know that i would want to go with all of that smoke..

A huge fire has completely consumed several buildings at Universal City in California. The fire broke out at about 4:45am local time. There are reports that some attractions, notably the King Kong ride at the adjacent theme park have also been damaged. Details still not clear.

Makes you wonder if they are the original negatives of the Films or just prints. I know most of their film or atleast copies of it are stored at Iron Mountain for archival purposes along with most major studios.

It appears it was not a film vault but instead a video transfer area which is good news

That isn't good about the fire

But I'm glad to hear that nobody was injured and that the video vault it destroyed was not videos they couldn't replace.
