    Smile Early October - advice?

My family is planning on staying at the Poly Oct. 5-11. We went to Disney about 11 years ago (during the summer - BAD crowds!!) and wondered if anyone had any thoughts on this time of year? HOw do you think the crowds will be? And the weather? Still warm enough to swim? Everyone on these boards have such great advice - thank you so much

We went at this time in 2006 (and are going again this year)

The weather was great - hot, but not unbearable - definitely warm enough for swimming.

The crowds were not bad - at least compared to peak times. Most rides were relatively short waits - anywhere between walk on to 20 minutes. A few of the most popular rides were longer (Soarin, TT, PP, etc), but generally, a fastpass can help with that.

And lines on MNSSHP nights were really great. This party is a don't miss in my opinion.

Epcot's Food and Wine festival will be going on then, and it's a lot of (delicious) fun. If you go - hit the WS early and during the week - nights and weekends make for some longer lines at the kiosks.

We went around this time in 2006 as well. The temperature was good. The crowds were a little bit larger than we're used to, but still easily bearable.

The longer lines we were in were only about a 40 minute wait. Most of those were in Magic Kingdom for the more popular rides. The other rides were about a 20 minute wait at most. The only one we didn't get to ride that we really wanted to was Expedition Everest. Since it was new the lines were so long we didn't even want to attempt them and the Fast Pass was gone before 10AM.

All in all it's a good time to go. If you can, try to go to MNSSHP. We went to this for the first time on that trip and we now are planning on focusing most of our trips around when they have this going on. It was GREAT!

We were there around this time frame last year. We found the crowd levels to be generally moderate - quite manageable particularly if you make good use of fast pass.

I agree with Faline. We went this time last year and it was WONDERFUL. Crowd levels were low (other than for the day before Columbus day... what a ZOO!) and the weather was pretty good. It rained every day but that didn't bother us because a lot of people with small children left the parks and it was really easy to do Fantasyland. With Fast Pass, you will have no trouble doing the parks. We were actally able to do a tour because we found ourselves with free time. Have a great time.
