when there was the old fed ex ending on space mountain, there was a scene with a robo dog and a package, and the announcer said, "in the future, packages will be sent on beams of light" in this really snappy retro announcer voice. we use "in the future" in that voice all the time whenever we encounter something that is either legitimately cool technologically or that fails miserabley at being technologically cool.
