    Default Counter service meals

My DBF and I are going to the world and were going on a tight budget therefore most or all of our meals are going to be counter service. I estimated that each of us will spend about $50 a day on food. Am I too far off from the realistic amount we will spend? We will probally have 3 meals a day with one snack. Thank you.

My wife and I and our 6 year old and 4 year old typically spend ~$100 a day on food. But we also typically eat breakfast in our room (grocery delivery).

That sounds totally do-able to me.

Most counter service meals are around $6.75 each. That's for say, a hamburger and fries combo. Drinks aren't included in the combos at WDW, so in the past, my husband and I just share a pop to save money.
So each meal is going to cost you about $15.00 - $16.00 if you share a drink. For three meals a day, you're totalling around $48.00 - $50.00 between the two of you.

If you can, buy a box of granola bars or something to bring to the parks for snacks. Buy a bottle of water and you can keep refilling it at the water fountains throughout the park. And if you don't like the taste of Florida water, you can also bring those little individual Crystal Lite or Kool-Aid packs to mix in your bottle of water to make it a little more sweet!

If you BOTH have $50.00 to spend each day, then yeah, go ahead and splurge on snacks, your own drinks and maybe even a sit-down meal!

I was thinking about bringing granola bars with us- how wierd! This is great news to me that it will only cost about 50 for both of us per day. I thought it would be so much more for some reason. I think we may splurge for one or two sit down meals but were ok with counter service. Thanks again.

Also if you have some ideas of where you would like to eat you can look at the menus in info central. From there you can get a rough estimate of what you'll spend.

We typically bring our own bottled water, granola bars and breakfast foods with us when we go to WDW. That way we don't have to spend a lot on breakfast. Some of the CS meals are large enough to share (chicken and ribs at Flame Tree BBQ, shwarma platter at Tangerine Cafe) so you can easily save some $$$ by sharing the occasional meal. We also share drinks,

We budget $100 a day for food. (4 of us. Me, DW,DS,DD)
This does not include character breakfasts, we only do 3 or 4 "special" meals and have a separate budget for that.
We start out each vacation planning to eat 3 meals a day.... but it drops to 2 a day with snacks. We just cannot consume that much food and still "do" the park.
The left over food money is spent on the last day at The World of Disney Store in Downtown Disney. Everyone gets to buy a T-shirt or hat, some toys, key chains, fridge magnets, etc...and we buy the park music CD.

Pink - If you are spending $50 per person per day have you considered purchasing the dining plan? The cost is just under $40 per person per day. You get 1 ts, 1 cs and 1 snack per day. Of course you will have to factor in tips for the ts meals but it might be worth a look.

I agree that WS has some great counter service places, but it is just a plain ol' bad rumor that you can't do better than cheeseburgers and fries anywhere else.

My wife and I were training for our first-ever half marathon when we were there last. We eat almost exclusively counter service meals at WDW, but on that trip we weren't about to assault our bodies with a steady diet of ground beef, cheese and fried foods. The counter service places ALL AROUND Disney World have a wonderful selection of yummy and tasty meals. Look around at the menus and you'll see what I mean.

I think all week I treated myself to a bacon cheeseburger and fries ONCE, and all the rest of the time I had cool stuff like salads (MANY different kinds), rotisserie chicken, grilled salmon, turkey breast sandwiches, seared tuna, veggies (grilled, steamed or raw), and even a tabouli platter (at CBR, not at Morocco!)
