Tipping on the '08 DDP

Okay, I know this topic has come up at lot, and forgive me if this has already been discussed, but I can't seem to find it anywhere. I've never been a waitress and I give waiters and waitresses a lot of credit and over tip, however, if we are on the DDP and they give us our bill, will the bill state how much the bill would have been out of pocket, or will just say what credits we have used. I'm just wondering because I don't want to under tip anyone by trying to figure out how much our bill would have been if we paid out of pocket.

The bill rings up with the amounts & totals shown on the bill.

The only difference when you're on the DDP is when you pay, you give them your room key (in lieu of your credit card), and when they bring your "receipt" copy to you it will show you how many DDP credits you have remaining.

When we went in 05, we were told that tips were included with the DDP. Not to say that you can't give them more, but they will already be getting a tip out of the DDP credit.

Starting in January, the Disney Dining Plan will not include gratuity.

To answer the original question, you should receive a bill with the amounts and totals, so you will know how much to tip. If you don't, I'm sure you can ask the server for a copy. The post two above mine explained the process well.

I guess I need to keep a bit more up to date. Thanks for the update, I'll have to remember that for our next trip.

I did notice though in the last few years we have been on the dining plan it was sometime difficult to get a receipt that had the total amount on it. I was trying to keep track myself for cost comparison, and the servers really seemed to want to switch that one quickly with the one that simply listed your items and the # of credits left. I am sure now that they will be depending on you knowing what that total is to calculate their tip it will be a little more evident.

I still think this change is going to be a real bummer for the waitstaff, but I digress......
